Alright, there's always that famous or classic horror movie that everyone loves that you just don't like. What is it?
Mine's The Omen. Besides the ending and the beheading, I just didn't think it was all it was hyped up to be.

Depends...you say hate in the title...I dont hate any of the ones people say are great.
However, I thought The Exorcist was very diapointing. Sure, it was pretty good, but I cant uderstand for the life of me why people love it so much? Especially after reading the book, it was a huge letdown. The book is alot better, IMO. The main thing I didnt like about the movie was the lack of character development compared to the book. Father Karras was the best example of this, in the book he was a great, indepth character...in the movie, we hardly know anything about him. To some extent, same with the detective.
If I hadnt read the book, I probably woulda liked it alot more....

wait a second... you don't like a movie b/c it's not as good as the book? then you must hate almost every movie ever made from a book! and to complain about the Exorcist b/c of its lack of character development is like complaining that Dawn of the Dead didn't have enough zombies! 95% of the film is nothing but character development! the only "action" really is the 20 minute climax of the exorcism at the end. sure, there are other exciting moments (crucifucktion being one of them), but you have to admit, compared to most horror movies, the Exorcist was more centered on characters and drama. I mean, how much of a developed character is Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger?
I'll agree that the characters were more developed in the book, but what movie based on a book isn't exactly that way? Basically, unless you wanted the Exorcist to be about 10 hours longer than it already was, there was no way for them to fit any more character development into the script, especially if they wanted the film to retain its overall impact.
I don't mean to personally attack you, but I cannot understand your point of view at all.

I gaurntee you If Id read the books for half the other movies out there, Id be disapointed with the films too. Thats why I usually dont bother to read the book, just watch the movie:p
But I really dont see where you found the character development in there? I found that basically, they just introduced the characters and said a bit about them, and that was all. Dont get me wrong, Im not sayng that this was a bad movie, overall it was pretty good. Just not as good as it is hyped up to me. This is all my opinion however, and Im not trying to knock yours.

Haha sorry. Like I said, The Omen, man...hmm, lemme think...what else...
Although it's not horror, I really didn't like Dr. Strangelove, yet I love Kubrick and I LOVE Peter Sellers.
I thought Hellraiser was kinda dumb, but that's not neccessarily huge as far as popularity goes...

You don't like Dr. Strangelove? You are a Peter Sellers fan and you don't like Dr. Strangelove? I am shocked....:D I laugh my ass off everytime I watch that film.
Hellraiser is one of my favorites, but I can understand why someone wouldn't particularly care for it.
Mine would be The Ring, I guess. It seemed like everybody and their mother loved that film. I guess my expectations were too high, because by the time I actually saw it, I was very disappointed.

You're not alone in hating Titanic! God that movie is some true cinematic shit. I've liked just about every horror movie I've seen but I used to argue with avenger about Waxwork (I hated it but it was one of his favorites) and a lot of people liked the Australian movie Undead but I fucking hated it.
Can't understand anyone not liking Dr Strangelove  fantastic film.

Well, I found The Exorcist REALLY cheap yesterday, so I bought it. Ill give it another chance....I probably just didnt like it because I had finished the book less than a week before watching the movie. It was still fresh in my mind, and I was really psyched about seeing the movie.
Hopefully thats why...:)

What? Is it possible to love Kubrick, and love Sellers, but not this movie? Perhaps you didn't get it was a black comedy? I'm not saying that to be a smart ass, but a few people I knew watched it as a straight drama. They hated it. I informed them it was a black comedy, and they liked it better the second viewing.
My vote goes with An American Werewolf In London. Wasn't that funny, wasn't that scary. Just 'meh' for me. It wasn't bad, but I don't consider it a classic.

Haha actually someone who doesn't really know me very well got it for me for my birthday, so I gave it a second viewing and liked it a lot actually. I was in a better mood when I watched it. The first time I had seen it was about a day after my girlfriend dumped me after informing me she'd cheated on me. Liked it much more now. (It might help that I was younger then...I saw it when I was 13 or 14)
Actually I really liked American Werewolf in London. Not very scary, no, but funny enough, and it has that "good movie" feeling that sticks to you after you watch it.
My personal SHITTER movie:
Fargo......
God I hate this movie with a passion.
It even won an Oscar(s) if I remember correctly. I would rather watch snot running out of a kids nose for two hours then sit through this piece of shit again!

Don't even get me started on that. Seriously, fuck him. You can't be Peter Sellers, and he's pretty fucking stuck up and high on himself if he thinks he can. For Christ's sake, have you seen the trailer?! He didn't even die his hair. So he's Peter Sellers with white hair. He's a dick, fuck him.

that movie was one of my babysitters coming up.
(just pop it in and set me down in front of the tv and I'd sit there for a few hours and leave everyone alone)
Come to think of it, that movie probably wasn't the best choice for a little kid... hmm...
Have to love Kubrick/Nicholson and co.
But Shelley's lines sometimes are just hilarious. I can't help but laugh sometimes, although she does capture something powerful in her performance.

I thought that if he wanted to remake The Texas Chainsaw Massacre that badly he should've been honest about it and just remade TCM....;)
I admit to liking many movies that others would find just outright cruel and disgusting. But they all hold a certain charm....lol. House of 1000 Corpses felt too generic. Except for the soundtrack, which was decent.

House of 1000 Corpses...
When I first watched it, I thought it just sucked. It felt like I was watching RZ's version of a prono or something.
And that whole scene before the cop gets shot in the head just went a little too far to keep me in the movie. I was actually out after the first little musical cuts, which were totally irrelevant as far as I saw. I just recently had it on while I was doing some editing and liked it much better playing in the background.
Overall my friends' recommendations and praise for that movie were off. Not my thang.
The original TCM-although it did give me a sick feeling in my stomach as a kid- I dug it. I still do. But the part where grandpa is sucking the girls fingers used to make me feel gross.
The remake was lame.
I just watched that movie "The Forgotten"
....OH FUCK...
They took what could have been an OK, albeit redundant story, with some cool visual effects, and totally shit all over it with some pseudo x-files bullshit.
The score was ok, had some cool time displacement stuff in 19/16 and some other weird signatures.
ok im done bitching for now.

Land Of The Dead did suck.
I hate The Shining. One of the worst, overhyped movies ever made. Yes, I know I'm gonna get alot of crap for this. Nicholson's acting was creepy for two minutes, then it was just so one dimensional that it bored me to tears. Duvall was annoying as hell. The story wasn't very creepy. The direction was bland.

I am not that big of a fan of The Shining either. I don't dislike it but I expected better from Kubrick to be honest. And I think Shelley Duvall is irritating as hell myself.:D Nicholson was good except for the fact that he played the character as a nut almost from the start, which didn't really work.
Keep in mind, I still think it is a good movie, just not a great movie.
