I just saw this for the first time, and I loved it! Sure the story is kind of cheesy, but some of the death scenes are pretty good. Plus I love the theme song by Goblin. Great job Argento!

you have to love the camera tracking shot at the beginning

This my favorite Argento film, in fact most days it makes my favorite top ten horror films list. It isn't a perfect film (the story does have some flaws), but I absolutely love how many of the scenes are set up.

Argent's best film in my view. A wonderful plot, some great twists, fantastic soundtrack (not Goblin as one member was missing, but close enough), stunning cinematography and set-ups and a balls out finale.
The first Argento to ever unspool before my eyes many years ago and it blew me away.
The camera crawl over the house is pure cinema...a perfect mix of visuals and music that has nothing to do with moving the plot along and all to do with setting up tension in the audience in a unique way. Wonderful stuff.

have this one on laserdisc (Roan group)
i love the way this guy does blood .. its always ultrared and bubbling - like in the axe in the head shot ...
i'm suprised he doesnt add the 'gloop gloop gloop - oil being poured from an oilcan' sound effect :)

...pretty good movie this one...from the incredible stupid to exellent....that dog chasing scene is very stupid and shouldnt have been there.....but Argento is an master in style....but I have to say I dont think the music always fit to the scenes.....many of his movies the music dont fit the picture...too much rock feeling to it.....but I like some of the Goblin stuff without the Argento pictures....

The dog scene was outrageously contrived but it worked wonderfully i thought. Crazy but somehow fitting.

I first found out about this movie in a music video by Skinny Puppy. The video had clips from Tenebre and Suspiria and made me really want to see both of them. I saw Suspiria last November and it was great... and I'm dying to see Tenebre.

I found a copy of Tenebre on DVD at my local Barnes and Noble. But I havent' bought it (yet) cause it's priced at $25.95
I've gone back several times, and its still there. I'm hoping that one day, that it may be put in the discount section. I may just go and get it though as soon as I have $30 to spend.

The commentary stinks! Argento has VERY bad English and he supposedly hated it so much he vowed never to do a comm track in English again.
One of the worst tracks out i'm afraid. Shame. :(

I love Argento. I had a phase about a month ago of renting out loads of his films.
Tenebrae is great. Some good twists, and very bloody.
But I think The Bird With the Crystal Plumage is his best film, along with Profondo Rosso.

I love Argento. And Tenebre is among his finest. I haven't seen anything prior to Deep Red, so I may investigate them next. So far, from the films I have SEEN, I'd have to rank them:
Deep Red
Suspiria
Tenebre
Opera
Inferno(need to watch again-disc was scratched)
The Phantom of the Opera
On the docket: Phenomena, Trauma, The Bird with ....

well if you like "bird", try out his other early films like cat o' nine tails & four flies on grey velvet

I don't think you can get Four Flies... on region 2 DVD can you? I'm not sure.
It looks good anyway.
