i heard lots and lots of screeching outside today, and i see my dog with something in her mouth. i start screaming at her 'MINNIE WHAT DID U KILL' and she ran off and it was a squirrel. but it wa stil alive.
i work at a wildlife place and i tried calling the center to see what i should do (as in, how to handle it cuz it might have rabies or whatever). but wouldnt answer. luckily, the hotline was open and she told me to use 2 towels.
by the time i grabbed a box and 3 towels (i save boxes and the last 2 boxes i saved ended up going to bury/hurt animals.. strange) the little thing wasnt moving. i pet it with the towel but it wouldnt move. but when i picked it up, it made this squeaking sound
ugh. i sped over there, usually a 30 minute drive bu i got there in about 20. ran up to the door...
usually u cant go in and find out the status of the animal, i was parked in the red so i couldnt stick aruond, that and they were SUPER busy. but ill be in on friday and i can find out about him
anyway.. since yall are horror and the like, i thought id post this so u could all cast a hex on minnie. Thanks

you have a fat dog, you shouldn't feed it people food, they can't digest those preservatives very well.

Aw, you tried to save that squirrel! That is so kind of you!
I figure the little squeaker probably didn't make it...it's that dog vs. squirrel thing...but that was awfully nice of you. Even though in the chain of things, your dog was probably meant to have that squirrel for dinner, it's nice that a person can care about a bushytail like that.
And yes, your dog DOES appear smug! Thinks a lot of himself, does he?

Its a damn dog, and while its taste is poor with choosing a rodent over kibble, it is still the dogs nature to hunt and kill those tiny woodland creatures that you admittedly drove at high speeds *what if you would have killed a family of HUMANS in an accident* to save a rat?
Dont get me wrong, I have more compassion for dogs than I do most humans, but still its a damn rat. Really fucked up thing is, like cats, how do you know that someway somehow "minnie" wasnt thinking of YOU when she caught that thing? Trying to catch you a present of sorts?

yeh yeh yeh.. except its not in her best interest to be hunting those things. not only can they have rabies but they can even have bubonic plague. no way in HELL i would let her eat that, get fur all over the place, and get a bloody mess on herself. also, id much rather bring it to the sanctuary than to let it starve in my yard. just let it be put down...
also, we dont feed her human food. she was fat the day we got her (adopted). she lost a ton of weight, and then thats her now. shes fuckin fast though. i think shes just a strange breed.
oh btw.. both are girls :). peopel always think theyre boys. LOL. im gonna sew up pink bows for them.

Well, Iniquity, you've got a point there, about the possibly hazardous driving.
But we can learn a lot from the rats. And they're so cute!
I know, I know, it's a thing with me. I love those little things. Dogs love 'em too. A big rat is like a burrito to a dog.

i've never seen a dog do that .. it seems to be strictly a cat thing.
dogs get this - 'holy fuck, i have to kill that thing because it moves' look .. it goes beyond food ...
cats play with small animals - which is cruel i guess ... but dogs just get all out freakish .. like they are the only amimal that is supposed to be alive ... its weird ..
mind you dogs do leave presents around.. the kind you have to pick up with an inverted plastic bag ..

I can understand looking out for her best interests, but dont punish the dog for its nature. I mean if it was out snatching babies out of cribs and shit, sure, lol, but catching the occasional "toy" in the yard is just what they do. Could be worse, it could have been a SKUNK!

lol shhhhhhhhh I was tryin to hook minnie up with a guilt trip.
and yes that "holy fuck" look is exactly what it is. A friend of mine has two german shepards that roam his property freely *190 acres* He has outdoor cams around the property to track deer and turkey, one day he brought the video in to see what was up and freaked out when he saw how much ruthless agression those two dogs together could administer. Apparently an unknowing coyote made its way onto the property and from the way the video portrayed it, it looked alot like those killer whales tossing the seals around in the ocean. These things were viscious, odd too, if you are playing with them and their mouth comes anywhere close to flesh on a human they stop immediately until they get reassurance that they can continue playing.

LOL. im not punishing her. she doesnt know any better. im merely asking for a few of you to cast a hex, is all.
OMG.. that story about the baby in the crib. didnt the woman have like 2 miscarriages? all i could think of was 'this is one woman who is NOT meant to have a kid'
but yeh. this dog is a fuckin pest. i hafto watch them eat otherwise she will eat both their food. i put the bowls like 20 feet away from each other and magically they end up butted together, minnie at both of them and lucky behind her whimpering.
fuckin bitch.
u cant see all of her, but heres a good view at her size and exactly who the dude (that fuckin movie that i fell asleep at. with the meat hook... TCM) is dealing with

Is that the dog you were dancing with in a video last year ? No wonder it has a complex. It's obviously a LEAD dog and you made it FOLLOW you. It'll probably take a dump in your shoe next. ;)

I think my dog killed a spider once.... A small one.
MJ is a bit of a wuss. She is a small beagle. Everyone always assumes she is a puppy, but she is 7. IF she chased and somehow managed to catch a squirrel... That thing would kick her ass.
We let our rats play with her a few times. Sometimes she reacts to them like they are little puppies (which is really cute), but other times she stares at us like "What the fuck are these things?!?! get them off!!"

Haha, my german shepherd intercepted a funnel web that was lunging at me once, chewed it up, and swallowed it whole, true, they ARE able to process the venom better than we are without dying, he still got sick, and a sore mouth for a couple days, so I considered his act no less significant...aggression shown in nature aside, they interact with humans VERY well.
I have never had a better purebred dog than this. Intelligent, beautiful, fine looking animal, fast learner, obedient, respectful and loyal to the point they'd die protecting you.
I grew up with a FEW of them, but, man, I got such great memories of that one dog...
Oh, what was the topic again?
Dog eats squirrel...Seems to me it'd be a pretty stupid squirrel to actually get caught by a dog, and a hunk-o-chunk dog like that...borderline retarded...I mean how hard is it? Go up into a fucking tree...
Admittedly though, I'd hate to have been put in the situation, I always try and rescue the wounded creatures I find, I've had it go both ways for me, but there's only so much you can ever do.
Don't feel bad.
And, yeah...look, it's dissapointing that this happens, but its just something that some dogs do...a lot of the time trying to establish a "safe" zone around your "territory", rather than the cats "gift" thing, it's true though, if you're not one of them (eg - dogs, and you...and on the odd occasion, family cats with be accepted into the fold along with you), you are a threat/challenge.
Dogs are pack animals for the better part, and generally, as the owner/family, you're it.

chortle? LOL. i chortle at chortle
seriously though, she KNEW iw as mad at her. the good dog follows me around all day. well minnie folllowed me to my room the other day. cuz she KNEW i was that mad at her. so i just pet her. at least she only bit the thing like twice, so there wasnt much blood.
and might i add, you know how the big black soulful singer type ladies.. do that RARR thign with their voice? well not only the big black ones, but mariah carey would do it sometimes. anyway, yeh,, thats exactly how i was screamin at her.. lol
i know my dogs pretty well. lucky (the original, good dog) is pretty much equal with me. she follows me around, i can put my face right in hers, etc etc. whereas minnie, even if i look at her, she gets this look on her face like '.. what??' and if i put my face next to hers, or even point at her, she immediately goes into submission. but she checks lucky all the time, but lucky alays wins. so i guess the only consolation she can get is to eat her food.
its fun wtaching animals. no 2 pets r the same, which is why i think those fools that spent what. $10,000+ to clone their pets??? ................
