Chiller Films Bites Piranha Remake
Source: Variety
June 7, 2005
Chiller Films has set up a deal to remake the 1978 Joe Dante-directed horror film Piranha, says Variety.
Chuck Russell is rewriting the script, using elements from spec script Killer Fish by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger plus the original's script by John Sayles. The film is based on a story by Richard Robertson.
In the original Piranha, a prehistoric strain of the feisty fish is unleashed by a subterranean tremor in Arizona's Lake Havasu just as the college crowd shows up to frolic in the lake.
Russell (The Mask, Eraser, The Scorpion King) will decide whether or not to direct the film after he completes the rewrite. The movie will go into production this fall.
Chiller Films first project is George A. Romero's Land of the Dead, which Universal will release June 24

Piranha sucked balls... and Piranha 2... sucked even worse. Does anyone remember the flying piranha that somehow miraculously survived in the corpse for an extended period of time... wtf was that?

Wow... Eraser AND the Scorpion King.. now THERE is some talent.... I bet this one wont suck one bit.
I also bet that "Gordo", a gigantic rock monster will rise up from the sea and grant us all 3 wishes.
Has anyone ever realised that "Piranha 2" was directed by Jim Cameron? Thank god they started letting him write his own movies....

They should do a versus movie, killer animal movies always wind up being versus.
Piranha versus Octopus
And on that note I'm leaving this reply dead because the LAST thing we need is another thread that gets turned into a "vs" thread.

Exactly. Hollywood makes people sign a paper promising they wont make anything original untill theyve ruined everything good so that when they do release something original (even if its shit) people will like it. Or at least see it
