From what I have read, Peter Jackson is a devoted fan of the original film and based his version of the film on the original. It will be set in the 1930's and stick close to the classic story.

It would probably be shit if it was set in any other era, for the simple fact that if it was further in the future, the technology would be aviable to reslove a rampaging Ape very quickly.

Found a trailer for this film... it's out on 14th Dec 05

clicky clicky (http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/king_kong/large.html)

it looks like it will be a good action adventure film... for fans of that genre.

I saw a trailer for it when I went to see War of the Worlds and it looked pretty good. The gorilla looks smaller than the original.

mmm, indeed. when i first saw the trailer i had no clue what movie it was for. i thought it was a jack black movie and i was waiting for him to do something funny or start assembling a rock and roll group made up entirely of pre-teens, but nope, it was king kong.

looks really sweet though.

Yes, lets hope the intro is not all too long and that they get to the island fast. All fingers crossed. :)

Same here. I watched it while watching the previews to the War of the Worlds. And it looked pretty damn good to me. Very interesting lineup. I think Adrian Brody and Jack Black will play pretty interesting roles.

Jack Black rules. Can NOT be disputed.
