NOTLD was shot in B&W, but GWTW has always been (i.e. was filmed in) technicolor.

I hate to say this, but you, sir, make me sick. Your avatar is Night of the Living Dead, so I would have hoped you had respect for the way George A Romero really wanted the damn film. Leave it the fuck alone. I'd like to see Ted Turner and his company get ripped apart by zombies. Color my ass.

In the 1990 Tom Savini remake, at the very end, they go back to the house the next monring, where Ben has died of blood loss during the night and died. They open the door to the basement and he steps up, a zombie. A redneck shoots him with an m-16.

Wow you're pretty fucking ignorant aren't you. I forgot everyone thought exactly what you did. Silly me.
Jesus if you really loved the film you wouldn't let something as fucking stupid as colors throw you off. I love NOTLD, and have yet to see the colored version but I'd like to, and I'm sure that I won't hate it because man its just colors who gives a flying fuck, stop your bitching, sit back and watch the damn movie.
With that said I'm going to watch the original.

I liked the first colorized version of NOTLD. (I haven't seen the new colorized version, but I am willing to give it a try.) But I consider it a "fun thing," and distinct and separate from the original version of the film.
The original film in its original B&W state is its own thing, a classic. The Milennium Edition featured a 5.1 surround "enhanced" version of the soundtrack, and normally I view these things with extreme skepticism, but the job they did was good, it added nothing new besides some deftly-incorporated stereo effects, and these were subtle with a capital S.
Colorized films don't replace the original films; they simply provide an alternate version. I'm not a black-and-white hating byotch, I just like a little variety sometimes.
What REALLY pisses me off is when the ONLY version of a film I can find has a SERIOUSLY altered soundtrack like "Return of the Living Dead Part 2." Now that shit pisses me off! The original music score was fine! Now what the heck did they go and do that for? Too cheap to renew the music license?????? The French language audio track features the original score, which is better than not hearing it at all, but.....Oh, the humanity.

Is that the DVD version? I was thinking of getting it but if thats the case I'll stick to my old VHS version. Its one thing that fucks me off with a lot of the new DVD versions of horror films they change a bunch of shit like the soundtrack and the transfers at times make some films look to slick which makes a lot of the effects look like shit. Some films were better left how they were. But it is great to see some of the titles that are comming out over here on DVD that have never seen the light of day since the big attack on "video nasties" and the re-censorship of videotapes over here (many tapes weren't recensored because they didn't hire so they dissappeared off the shelves because they were illegal to sell or hire).
I've got the first colourised edition of NOTLD. The colours look terrible all green and yellow. Parts of it are very difficult to make out. Still trying to track down the 1990 Savini remake over here, I really enjoyed it as a kid and it introduced me to Romero's original series.

That is correct--the new Region 1 DVD of "Return of the Living Dead Part 2" is FUCKED UP. The entire score has been redone. The picture looks nice but the change in the soundtrack totally ruins the experience. (They even wrote some other stupid song for the end credits, and do not use the new-wave version of "Monster Mash.") Of course, there is NOTHING on the DVD box to indicate that this is an "altered" version.
Strangely, if you switch the audio track to the French dub, you will hear the film with its original musical score, albeit in mono.
So hang onto that VHS version, because it features the original soundtrack and mix--in full rich stereo.

yeah i knew about that ahead of time but wasnt to worried but man the music they replaced it with was so damn bad it takes credibility away from the film.
