Well, I got further than you....I made it about 50 pages in and had to put it down. It isn't the only book I have ever put down, but one of the very few.

But keep in mind, I didn't like The Talisman. I finished it but I am not a fan of that book at all. I have talked to a couple of people though that loved The Talisman and didn't like The Black House either.

My advice is to rent it out again, it gets far better round page 80 when you catch-up with Jack Sawyer

it didnt matter what was happening or going to happen .. the writing style was driving me insane. it was so smug you could taste it.

Agreed, the writing smile is smug but it does get a lot better when you get past the first section: 'Welcome to Coulee Country'.
I'm round 450 now and it is a great story.

I loved the book. For real. It's one of my favorites.

I first read The Black House, and then after that one The Talisman. Haha!

Though they're very different.

What about the ending? I wasn't pleased.

If you can get past the intro it isnt that bad. The time spent in the other dimensions with Parkus is painfully short though.
