^^^ as above. most would say family, but how about beliefs??? for liberty perhaps (in general? or certain types like religoin, speech, government... etc).
how about family.... is there a certain order? as in, where does it draw the line, kids, hubby,.. inlaws??? ^_^ dont even lie, as in, id imagine you wouldnt die for your grandfather (anyway, im not sure he'd LET that happen anyway. on account hes so old and such).
for your country maybe?
would you make these sacrifices regardless.. or would you take in totality of circumstances?? (as in, situationally vs. more along the lines of blind faith)
OR... you WOULDNT sacrifice your life for anything at all?
As for me... i'd do it just for about anyone. that why i wanna be a cop. in the line of duty is exactly the way i want to go, but not some stupid shit like i pulled over the wrong motherfucker and he decides to shoot me for no reason. i mean 9/11, hostage type shit. but yah, knowing my luck, im gonna die cuz i got hit by a drunk driver.... :( bastards.

I would give my life for the smartest little girl on the planet, her name is Rain. She could have any organ that would fit, as much blood as she could drink, the very essence of my being if it would make her happy. I see noting but oppertunitys and joy in her life. I don't say this about many kids, but if there is one who has potential to change the world, its this little girl. Ive never met anyone like her ever and she's 2. Freakin' brillant!

i think like that to some extent but i've changed since my kid ..
i would sacrifice myself for my kid and wife ...
In the past i would have said anyone ... but i'd be thinking of my kid having a fatherless life ...
i dunno, i'd probably still rush into a burning building to save someone i dont know because it wouldnt occur to me that i'd die anyway ...

Ahh...But THAT's a VERY good point....Sometimes, when you see someone whose life is in danger...You don't always consider the possibility that you could be trading your life for theirs.....There is always the possibility of the 'inadvertant self-sacrifice' when there isn't any time to think...

very true. but the way i see it, id hope my family and friends, children, whatever, realize i was doing the right thing
if my child wanted to become a police officer, firefighter... i'd let em. support em 100%.. very noble professions they are.

i found out that certain remote controls have a button for each thing (dvd, cd, tv, cable). and that yuo can program the remote control by dialing certain numbers on the thingy and then pointing at the thing you want to control
thats pretyy cool! but i wouldnt be able to do it, im not a good reader.
i like to get stuff forom ikea but putting it together is hard on account im not big into instructions. so i just start bolting and screwing whatever looks right.

I would die for any child, I believe....no way could I stand by and let something terrible happen to a child that I could help in any way.
And there are many members of my family I wouldn't think twice about giving my life for if it came to that. I even have a cousin that I feel that way about.
But a complete, adult stranger? I am not so sure that I have it in me to sacrifice myself like that. I admire those that do. But I am not sure what I would do in that situation.

It's good to know that not everyone in the world is selfish. Some people would just walk on by and never think about it again or just use it as a good story, like "I saw 27 people in a 10 car pile up. I had to take 27th street just to get around the mess. All the screaming was giving me a headache!" People these days.

I would die for love. I mean TRUE love, not none of the false shit. If it took sacrificing myself to feel true and honest love for one minute before I died, then it would be well worth it to me because True love is so hard to find.

Chainsaw Guy, what'd be the point? You can't bask in freedom when you're dead. When you're dead you bask in death. Did you mean the freedom of others? If so, who?
Babygurl20, you're so right. I would sacrifice myself also, to feel love from that one person, even for a second. Only, true love would (almost) very likely give up their own life before they let you give up yours. However, either way someone is almost bound to live a life of unhappiness and grief. So what's the point? Would it not be easier to be alive and apart?
Hellboy, you know it.

I'd sacrifice my life for any family members that I'm close to(mom, dad, grandpa, and a few others), or maybe one of the other few decent people in the world. Probably no one else and not some random person that I didn't know, unless I was just so depressed at the time that I didn't care. I'd also sacrifice my life for my cat Sherman. Some people may think that's crazy but I love him and he's included in the "close family members" category. Not to mention his life is better than mine anyway...he gets to be lazy and sleep all day. :p

im not exactly sure there are too many grandparents that would LET anyone sacrifice for them
know what im sayin? my neighbor died a little over a year ago. she was i think 47 or so - brain aneurism. anyway, it was a very hard funeral, she died so suddenly and her father, ya know, an old man, was probably the most shaken out of everyone (friends, relatives, husband, 2 kids ages 22 and ... 11? somethin like that)

i would have to agree. i wouldnt die for an animal or an extremely old or sick person. at least the way i see it, if i were violently ill and old, i wouldnt let ANYONE, able bodied, young to die for me. thats just dumb
as for the cat, the cats not gona give a damn whether or not you die. yeh, itll miss u for a few days, but they move on. people dont, not as easily anyway.

Sacrifice and risk are two different things, there are plenty of things I'd risk my life for such as trying to save someone's life, make a movie, have my knee back to 100% ect.
As far as just sacrificing my life I'd only do that for a child(ecspecially my neice),4 members of my family,my girlfriend and a CLOSE friend which I don't have.
p.s.
lmao@Gren, she said in-laws, now that's F'n funny.

Well, I think it's probably pretty safe to say that you aren't an animal person. :D I hate to say it, but the more I get to know some people, the more I like my cat better than them. Besides, only humane ignorance makes animals "unworthy" on any level. My cat is smarter than some of the people I work with. Common sense just goes further in my book, I guess. :)

werd. but thing is animals are a simpler form which makes em more innocent. whereashumans can make decisions. animals just see one way, the eat, sleep, go potty, be happy way!
which is why.. i wouldnt sacrifice my life for one. i mean, if i die, my dogs will get new owners. dogs dont cry about 'oh boo fucking hoo i have cancer wah' like humans do. nor do they dwell
but yeh, i hafto agree... a lot of times i like aniamls better than people. but, also, i work with special olympics kids, and yeh.. those kids are like animals. a lot of them are very nice, not a cruel bone in their body, but its obvious why - mental incapability.

Yeah. I would feel bad though if I didn't at least try. You have your pet, you are their primary care giver. They depend on you for everything. Food, a bed, bathroom, water, companionship, everything. Like, if someone broke into your house and started to attack you, I'm sure your dog wouldn't say "Well, at least the neighbors have a nice big back yard." Your pooches would be all over that person without a second thought. You have my back, I have yours type of thing. They count on you man. That's what trust is all about. No doubt that if my cat got out, and was crossing the road when a car came, and it was going to hit her, I would jump out in front of the car. At least then they might try to swerve. If I didn't, I would be too scarred for the rest of my life. :(

i have 2 dogs. of course they care, but like i siad, they move on. they dont dwell like we do. example: you see something you want, you buy it. but lets say you dont have money, u think about it. how many times ive walked with my dogs, they seen another dog, have whined, barked, staring at that dog.. and once were 10 feet away. they stop caring.
additionally, both of my dogs are adopted, as were the 2 before them, as will any of the dogs i have for the rest of my life
animals, in a way, are much smarter than us. yes, of course they'll be sad. but guess what, they move on. and like i said, as i think they are smarter, i somehow doubt they would want us to die for them. they live and breathe for their owners, and would try and protect us (i read this book a while ago, about aniamls saving their owners. there was one where a bulldog bit an electrified line that his owner was stuck on. the dog ended up dieing, but it took the shock adn the kid was able to get away.)
not to mention, with me dead tos ave my dog, my dog will die in 5 years anyway. and with me gone, that will be how ever many more dogs i WONT be able to save from the pound???

Even her foster parent was mean to her. :( Glad I got her out of that mess. Well, my cat is a little different than most cats. She is really easy to communicate with too. She really understands. (It sounds crazy, I know.) She just picked up in understanding faster than most animals do. Maybe I feel this way because I'm so young and I don't have any children. but i know ill have dogs for forever. the thing that sucks thougha bout the poubd is theres easily 5-7 dogs in EACH kennel, and u hafto pick only one :(. i want to save them all, but theres JUST no way. the 2 dogs i have now fell into my lap -t the first one, Lucky, was at the pound. BUT the lady had come up to me and my dad and aksed us 'want to see my dog.' as in, i think she saw the conditions of the pound and was changing her mind bringing her dog in. but she saw us and we took her.
as for the one ^^^ above, that buffoon is one of the bastard children of my aunt and uncle. they gave her to us cuz they were afraid that the father would try and do her since she was getting closely to mating age.
id love to have a cat, but i dunno, their a litle too 'docile' is the word im thinking of. not wild enough, that and im not really into kitty litter or the fact that if they get out they might kill some baby birds. i do like scottish folds though!!! (kinda chubby like, with tiny tiny ears). i have a thing for fatty aniamls, whether its a lot of fur, or just plain fat :)

Oh man, my cat is so not mild. Her breed is a Norwegien Forest cat. Way back in the day, they used to travel with the Vikings and protect their food stores. If that is an indicater to her personality. At mearly one year old, she is bigger than any average three year old cat. She also has two more years of growing! I have never met an animal with more personality. I look forward to at least 18 more years with her. :)

o0o0o0 i like that cat!! ^_^. anyway, every cat ive met ive liked. but i dunno, i guess im just a dog person. i like how they constantly folow you around, sit with u, LOL.
anyway, i live in San Diego and plan on staying here, if i cant support a child financially then i wont even bother. the house my parents bought back in 94 was $200K, now is $700. it sucks real bad out here. so i guess a lot of it is monetary value. i want to be able to put them through scohol and such, there no way i would want to raise a kid on some fuckin $15/hour. thats lame.
i guess i kidna value my independence too much to have someone fully dependant on me. as for animals? well, in my case my dogs.. i used to have single dogs. but now that ive seen how much better it is to have frineds for them, i will never have them alone. lucky (i wil put in a picture) was alone for 3 years (i adopted her when my Penny dog was alive, but she livd for only 5 days after we got lucky. She was old one). anyway, for 3 years she was alone until we finally got minnie. now, she seems a lot happier and less dependant on me. i mean, she likes to hang out, but im glad she has someone of her kind to hang out with.
so i wonder, if they would die for each other?? ^_^ Lucky someitmes couldnt give less of a shit about min nie and loves to get away from her. as much as minnie tries to fight with lucky, if u separate them she starts crying. its the funniest thing. if lucky is missing i Takl to minnie 'Minnie, wheres lucky?' and she immiediately starts whining, running around looking for her. BUT if its the opposite and Minnie is missing, I tel lucky "Lucky, wheres Minnie?' and she just sits there. LOL!!!

i love animals, all animals .. and i respect them more in some ways because they know how to live on the earth in harmony - until we came along and fucked everything up for them.
that being said - if i was driving down the street and a cat/dog ran in front of me forcing me into the path of a kid (if i was to avoid hitting the animal)....
then someone is going to need a new cat/dog

Agreed Urge. Interesting that you are the only one to bring up that type of situation. :)

Exactly.
I don't hate animals, but like you I just can't value the life of an animal over another person. I think it's ridiculous.
