its about a guy who is a vampire ...

or is he ?

i have a beta origional of this one signed by Tom Savini
He did the FX and acted in it.

John Amplas plays the main character .. who you might know as the young goateed Dr. in Day of the Dead.

he has been in most of Romeros films since ..

kind of like the way ronny howard puts his brother clint in all of his films.

^^ word.

This is my favorite Romero flick. Anyone got any links I'd like to read up on it some more for a review I'm doing. Done the usual google thing but nothing decent has popped up.

Honestly? I was kind of let down by this one.

The concept is brilliant and the dude playing Martin did a good job, but overall it kind of left me cold.

I think the plotting was what killed it for me. I mean, I love a good character study as much as the next guy, but in a movie like this I would have liked some semblance of a story to go along with it.

I didn't hate it by any means, but I was expecting a lot more. It's been about a year since I watched it...maybe I should track down a copy and give 'er another go.

This is easily my favorite "vampire movie" of all time. The fact that you never really know if he is or isn't a vampire and the fact that it is SO original compared to most crappy "hiss-at-the-camera-while-wearing-goth-clothes" vampire movies that are made these days, it's really refreshing.

Also, John Amplas is just really good in it. He should have been in a lot more stuff.

I'll need to revisit "Martin" - it's been a long time. I've only seen it a couple of times, but it's been about 20 years since I've last watched it. The first time was in the early 80s at a midnight show and being a huge fan of "Dawn of the Dead" I couldn't wait to see this rerun in a theater; first time for me though. I remember really enjoying it, enough to have watched it again, but specifics escape me.

Martin would've looked amazing on the big screen.

Its a great flick. Somewhat of a cult classic too.

Romero's "different" take on the legend, and a great soundtrack to boot.

Bro's BF is a big horror buff and I saw this in his collection and I was curious but It didnt really seem to catch my attention but he told me it was a great movie so I'll definately be checking it out. Never would have thought it was about a vampire.
