I loved the Movie, but i felt that the ending was a little of a let down. I mean I liked everything up to when the arm moves, then it was over. I didn't like that. Did anyone else like or dislike the ending?

I thought May was alright. as I said in another thread, it was a bit too "Hot Topic" for me. and I thought the ending was kinda cool. it was like she was dying and slipping off into another world or something where her creation was really real.

heh I liked may

I liked the part with the blind kids and I like how she sacraficed her good eye for her friend.

as far as the end is concerned, I liked it as well. she needed comfort and she found something in her new doll that no one else was able to give her. I think thats why the arm moves.;)

I loved May, and I was good with the ending.......just took it to the ultimate in gore and all.......but yeah..the arm moving was not good. Should have left it at the body thing. :)

This is my favorite indie flick and one of my favorite flicks of all time! The only downfall this movie had (which was mentioned earlier) was the ending. IMO, it sucked all kinds of ass! Sure, the beginning of the end was great, but once I seen that damn arm move, I was so damn pissed! But hey, I still loved it. I give it a 5 out of 5.

P.S. It's in my Movie Hall of Fame!

The first time I saw the movie I was pretty undecided... When I watched it again, I decided it was genius. I love the movie, especially the ending.

The ending was cool I think, I wish, however that there was something between her neurotically searching for perfection and her going batshit insane. Other than that, it was very cool, funny, and well acted. I hate to be picking up on a three week old thread, but the movie is great and I just joined. I like the direction Indie horror is going and I'm glad to see it not being too formulaic.

At first I thought the arm moving at the end was kinda cheesy, but I accept it now as the arm didn't actually move, but she imagined it did because she's nuts... kinda like how the glass kept cracking on her doll's box the whole movie. I don't think that really happened either (it's been a while since I've seen it, but they may have even illustrated as much). So with that in mind the ending isn't as crappy to me.

The movie itself was kinda slow I thought though. But I think it needed to be to set up who May is and make the ending acceptable.

I can't believe I never commented on this film.
I loved May from beginning to end. It is one of the few recent horror films that I think gets it absolutely right. The writing is sharp, the characters are sympathetic and the pace and plotting are just about perfect, in my opinion. It is slow because you actually get to know May, which I personally think is the best thing about the film.

I thought May was pretty decent, good enough to warrant a purchase in fact. As for the ending, I really don't think the movement of the arm was meant to be taken at face value. I saw it more as another symptom of May's mental illness. It's just one of those scenes that can be interpreted according to your own desires.

OK, old thread... But since I wasn't around when it was created (one of my many "disappearances" from here) and I do LOVE to movie, I had to stop bye... And in case anyone will ever read it again, I did like the ending, hehe. Think it makes perfect sense.

I am a big fan of MAY and also Lucky's McKee's "male version" of it called ROMAN. Regarding the ending of MAY- it was sort of a let down in a lot of ways yet I still thought it was good. You just know MAY will never be "ok".

Wanted to also add that if anyone here hasn't seen ROMAN and like MAY then you really need to check it out.

Still like it. Haven't seen Roman yet. Thanks for the recommendation.

Roman is great and weird and dark and even slower than May

Well, at first I didn't like the ending... Then I ended up thinking it just... Kind of... HAD to end this way, if you know what I mean.

Haven't seen Roman... I'll search for it.

Talking about Lucky McKee... What did you guys think of Sick Girl?

May is the only thing I've seen that McKee has had a hand in. I liked it, and I generally don't like "quirky" films.

I Loved Sick Girl. Great MOH episode. I like everything of Lucky's I've seen. Has anyone here seen RED yet (based on the Jack Ketchum book)- Lucky was a producer on that.

The arm had to move in the end, I don't think the 'feel' of it not moving would have fit into the film as well. She had finally finished what she had set out to do, and she and her 'thing' could finally be together(in death).

I liked the ending of May. However, I didn't really dig the movie.

I enjoyed that episode. I only got halfway thru The Woods because I was pretty shattered after work but have been meaning to check out the rest sometime.

But yeh he's a pretty solid director IMO that I discovered by chance when an ex-girlfriend rented May.
