People were talking about the Shining as the scariest film ever, it did scare me(not much) as did Blair Witch Project(a little), Ringu(not when I was watching it,did'nt scare me a bit, but when I went to bed I was terrified), Suspiria(only when the witch was breathing behind the curtain), Texas Chainsaw Massacre( more stressed than scared), there are probably many more.
The film that scares the living shit out of me is Watership Down, the music is terrifying and the scenes where the rabbit holes are being filled in with dirt with all those dead rabbits is freaky. It has all the elements of a great horror film and it is not even considered one. It is one of my favourite films and is a true testament to the power of animation.

in order the films that scared me most...or atleast what I can remember right now
1) Watership Down
2) Salems Lot
3) Ringu
4) Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Watership Down was one of the best books I ever read. Really dark tale, but also just generally really interesting and cool. Like a quarter of the words in the book are written in rabbit language and you have to reference the dictionary at the back for the first few chapters, but by the end of the book, you will be speaking rabbit with the best of them.

I started a thread about WD for some time ago, but it is more disturbing than scary.
