Bit strange calling this film an upcoming horror movie as it is almost two years old but it is ok in context of the US where the film is yet to open. The film has been dubbed to make it more "user friendly" for American audiences. Regardless, this is the most adrenalizing and terrifying edge of your seat suspenser since Halloween. a joyous throwback to the late 70's with oodles of style, fantastic performances, superlative music and sound effects if a slightly duff last ten minutes or so. that amall criticism aside this film is the best slasher film for an age and deserves to be enjoyed on a big screen......alexandre aja is currently working on the Hills Have Eyes remake.

I'm not certain if the Japanese DVD that I bought about a year & a half ago is uncut or not, but if it isn't, I can't wait to eventually see that 60 seconds or so that was clipped 'cause my copy is pretty damned graphic as it is!
HAUTE TENTION really is a wild ride though & I'm definitely going to try to get out there & catch it on the big screen. I want to see what an audiance does with a real, raw, un-"americanized" piece of genre cinema. Hell, I'm expecting to see a fair amount walk out during the father's murder scene!

or go to Paris for a short weekend break, and buy it... or wait outside hmv for someone to walkout with it in their carrier bag, creep up behind them and bash them on the head, run off with haute tension for free.

not even 99cent public domain DVDs ?
I watched about an hour of this last night and I gotta say its pretty good. Even without understanding a lick of the dialog its very intense.I don't know how their going to get this down to an "R" rating without cutting just a minute.

Thanks for setting me straight, that is ,indeed, the version I have. I don't know why I said Japanese... :o
Anyways, I think it's definitely worthy of every bit of praise that the film has gotten over the past couple of years & I'm certainly quite glad that I ordered it last year. Though I'm still hoping to win those tickets to next week's local advance screening that I put in for online, so I can see it on the big screen with an audiance.

theres something about the death scenes in this film, just so brutal and raw, pants end though, who was driving the extra vehicle?

Is it true that they'e dubbing it for U.S. release? Because that would frigging suck. What, the distributors think Americans are so retarded they're incapable of reading subtitles? I can't stand dubbing, I get too annoyed and distracted by the out of sync lip movements.
I hope they release a non-dubbed version on DVD (with the mysterious missing scene people keep referring too - thanks guys for being vague and not spoiling it, I appreciate that)

I like dubbing. I'm a lazy American, I don't want to be reading the entire time I'm watching a movie. Just one man's opinion...

Okay, so I saw HT yesterday.
The dubbing was a little aggravating, but at least most of the movie had no dialogue at all so it was tolerable.
It sure was gorey! The nasty little homage to Re-Animator got a lot of "yucks" from the viewing audience, as did the saw scene. My date didn't like the ending but I thought it was pretty slick and it made the opening scene make more sense.
Great movie! If I buy it, I will want the subtitled version instead.

the american version was absoloute trash so tired of these types of endings. Wont bother with buying this unless we get an uncut un dubbed version. Since the american version wasnt the least bit gory.
