Car Salesman Gets Taken For A Ride

California - A test drive of a 2005 Grand Prix took a criminal turn Saturday when the driver tried to take the salesman to Nevada, and then threatened to shoot him and stuff him in the trunk, deputies reported.

The test driver, Corbyn Mitchell, 24, also stole the wallet of the stunned 23-year-old salesman, but was nabbed after using his credit card in Watsonville and after the satellite tracking system located the car, deputies said.

The salesman leapt from the moving car after the death threat, on Salinas Road in Pajaro, Monterey County sheriff’s deputies said. The car was traveling about 60 mph, they reported.

The victim was treated at Dominican Hospital, said John Phillips, sales manager of Marina Cadillac Buick Pontiac GMC Mazda in Capitola.

"George is OK, but he was scratched up pretty good and had to have some stitches in his knee," he said. "This has never happened here before, but it happened to me once in a dealership in Alabama."

After the satellite tracked the car, deputies spotted Mitchell near the parked car and he sprinted into a yard and onto the roof of a home off Mission Drive near Dominican Hospital. He was arrested on suspicion of car jacking, kidnapping and making criminal threats, among other things.
