I used to eat small bugs when I was a baby (so they say), although I don't remember doing that. Mmmm, yumm! Any of you folks do something similar?

Welllll, this thread is SORT of a joke, because the title looks funny. But kids eat bugs all the time. I never ate those chocolate covered cockroaches, though. I did buy some lollipops with bees inside them, but just to look at them.

The closest I'll come to eating a bug nowadays is a shrimp or a lobster. (Hey, you have to move up in the world.)

If I saw a shrimp scuttling across the floor I would probably try to do something to it, because it would look horrible and dangerous. But if someone grabbed it, peeled its shell off, and stir-fried it with some garlic, I would probably be looking for a plate and a napkin.

I swallowed the worm while drinking tequila. I used to eat ants when I was 3 or 4.

The biggest insect I've ever seen was a huge praying mantis on some doctor's car.

I never swallowed the tequila worm. Someone always got it before I did...

Biggest bugs I've seen are these industrial strength critters that fly around--I see them when I drive out into the California desert--the farther you get from civilization, the bigger the bugs get. I swear they're the size of small birds out there. Big buzzing, fluttering things.

I've never eaten a bug, I was always kinda freaked by bugs when I was a kid.

If anybody here is into eating bugs, there are plenty of ladybugs here I could pack up and send to you.

I will eat Ladybug Paste. I make an exception there. That's like a pate, you puree a couple thousand of them fresh in a blender with some butter and cilantro and a little garlic. It's great on toast triangles! ;)

Eww! :p Those things smell disgusting(ladybugs I mean)...I believe I'd rather eat anything than a ladybug.

This thread reminds me, my dad told me he ate a grasshopper once...I believe it was a grasshopper. Yuck...it disgusts me to even look at those things. :p

Biggest bug I've ever ate was a fly. That was when I was driving a motor cycle without a helmet on and got bugs in my teeth. Needless to say it was a disgusting experience.

me too...well actually there are other things too. I'm also scared of snakes. :p I'm not disgusted by snakes though...I think they're cute and I like the ones at the zoo where the zookeepers hold them and let you pet them. it's just that I live in the middle of nowhere and you never know when a snake is going to crawl out in front of you when you're outside...so I want them to stay far away from my house. And I'm not smart when it comes to snakes so I'd panic, not knowing if it were poisonous or not.

haha! no way! you seem like you wouldn't be scared of snakes! thats so weeird.

i was going to eat my tarantulla when she died but i was too sad to think about cooking her. something about ingesting that which you love. like when dead killed himself and the rest of mayhem ate peices of his brain and then called the police.

How about an escargot? Would anyone here eat a snail? And no, this is not the "snails versus oysters" routine. I had some sauteed snails once, and by golly, those damn things were all right. They tasted like shrimp, can you believe that? And they had lotsa garlic in there on 'em, and that was good because garlic goes good with just about anything.

There is a link at the top of this page, though it may be gone at some point:

http://www.spalding-labs.com/home.php

They sell something called "natural fly predators" which are "tiny beneficial insects" that kill the pest flies. And they have a funny picture of a girl kissing a horse. Hey, sex sells, you know.

I'm just afraid of the poisonous ones around here...and since I don't know the non-poisonous ones from the poisonous ones...I'm kinda scared of them all. :p But like I said, I like the ones at the zoo that I know aren't poisonous. I pet those. :)

yep...I'd think anyone would be a little scared to run up on a venomous snake(unless you're the Crocodile Hunter or Jeff Corwin or another one of those animal guys who have been specially trained to handle those animals)...though I could be wrong. :p

There is nothing wrong with eating bugs. Had baked meal worms with a nice cajun seasoning on them. They are very good. Have also had meal worms alive. Dont think i would eat any bugs that are not from a pet store though since you are not sure of their health status. Bugs from the store are kept in good health to insure nothing gets sick off of them.

I'll stick to a good ole slab of bloody cow, or deer meat.

Sorry but the idea of eating bugs just does not appeal to me at all.

yeah, they just sort of pop into my mouth and sometimes I chew them without realising they're there. They taste a bit like grass. One thing though is that if you swallow them whole, unlike sweetcorn they don't come out whole again... wierd!
