View Full Version : Why are people preoccupied with celebs???

meetthecreeper

My point of view is that most if not all celebs are in fact quite fucked up, why would anyone want to be interested in what goes on in their lives???

Why would anyone idolize someone who plays make believe for a living???

Why do little girls want to be like Britney Spears?? I mean she walks into a public restroom at a service station barefoot. FUNGUS!!!

I am curious as to who your idols are and why you put them there.

My idols and or heros were always historical figures that never really had anything to do with entertainment.

i have no idols.
the one or two people i admire are personal friends who have admirable qualities (remain decent under extreme adversity...etc)

most people admire celebrities because they represent something they dont have .. beauty, wealth, power, admiration.
(kind of the snake eating its tail isnt it)

sometimes they admire the skill of the craft (artist, actor, musician)- which is easier to understand .. but for the majority - its so they can live vicariously through the exploits of someone they could never be.

I only have one person I idolize and it's not because he's rich, famous, admired ect. it's because I want to be a writer for a living and make movies and he's been doing it forever and has done it very well,. As for who he's dating, been married to,likes to eat out at and all that other garbage I could care less.

what's wrong with that?

this is true

if people want to know stuff about celebrities and admire 'em who cares.

You have to admit some of it is kinda interesting if not their personal life the things they've done in the industry, I watch Inside the Actor's Studio all the time to see and hear about what they had to do to get in the buisness and the technics they use for certain situations ect. ect.

Well its obvious somebody cares, thats why there is US, Entertainment Weekly, People, The Enquirer, The Star and several thousand other publications on the rack that all deal with celebs and what goes on in their lives. Not to mention the dozen or so shows on the tele that deal with celebs and their lifestyles.

Here is a great example of the sheeple and their stupidity, evidently Ashton Kutchner has taken a liking to wearing trucker hats, I had no idea they were called that but so be it.

Anyways it seems that in downtown Chicago people are spending up to $75 dollars for these hats. Especially John Deere hats. The reason I say this is I own a John Deere hat, got it at Farm & Fleet for 5.99 about 2 years ago. I never thought that it was trendy, just thats what us bakward ass country fuks wear out here in the styx.

A guy at work asked me if I was a big Ashton Kutchner fan. I was like "HUH??" you know cos' of the hat.

Hell if these morons want to spend that kind of money on a stupid hat that some celeb wears, I have a closet full, John Deere, Mack Trucks, Peterbilt, International Harvester, etc. I will even throw in the grease spots and stink of diesel fuel for free.

Maybe I should go buy a case and sell them downtown and make my fortune.

And I agree Johnny Depp is kinda Hhhhhhhhooooooooooottttttttt
if I had to go that way, :D

Sorry John I gotta drive though.

i dont hate celebrities .. i dont know them ..

but i hate the idea of celebrity- and the result of it.

the best part is that the only thing people like to do more than build these celebrities up, is to tear them down again..
pop culture cannibalism....

I don't idolize anyone...there are some people I wish I looked like and/or wish I could be like. And I really like the celebs I've met and the ones who send me emails or messages on MySpace or something...and I get excited to meet or talk to the celebs that I like, but I don't exactly idolize them...they're just people...very lucky people, but still people.
When I was a kid I think there were some celebs I was a little too obsessed with...but as I got older I realized it's stupid to be too overly obsessed with anybody, especially somebody I don't even know that doesn't give a damn about me or even know that I exist.

I didnt know Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden and I hate and or hated those fookers.

I hate Britney, Christina and the like because.....
1. They have no talent

2. They use their bodies for personal gain.

3. Think they are fookin role models, FOR WHO??? Strippers and Hookers on the point????

Tom Cruise, although he is a decent looking man, and The Last Samurai was pretty good, the guy cant put together a sentence to save his life. Yet he is paid MILLIONS of dollars to play make believe.

Let me tell ya my 6 year old daughter can do drama just as good as he can if not better.

Sports celebs, paid millions to play a frickin game, and then get jacked up on steroids, attack the fans in the stands and so on.

Why dont teachers, or doctors, or a whole host of other professions get paid millions????

Because no one wants to go watch a public school teacher teach inner city, unruly, undisciplined, fatherless children. Granted not all teachers are all that great at what they do but there are some that actually give a shit and try to make a difference. IMO they are the ones that should be paid the millions.

Not Kobe (Sex offender) Mark, Sammy, and Jose (Drug users and ratfink) Tony Stewart (unappreciative of his fans and a foul mouth SOB) and a whole host of others.

AUSTIN316426808

it's not their fault, it's the owners of the teams fault that athletes get paid so much.

Way back when there was no such thing as a salary cap in any sport and the owners wanted to get the best players on their team and rightfully so I mean who wants to lose right? anyway they started biding on players and the price got higher and higher. If you were an athlete and there were teams fighting over you and they kept raising the price would you complain?

Don't you think it's a little unfair to compare the hate you have towards terrorist to that of someone who plays a game or acts?

the girl dropped the charges against Kobe meaning that she was lying just like most of the people who take celebrities to court just trying to get money. Did he commit adultry? yes, but it's not like that doesn't happen quite often not saying that it's right but it's also not a crime.

hard to compare the killers of men to pop stars.

and the pop stars .. your hatred is miguided.
Each one is part of a money machine, created by agents, companies, and promoters .. and fueled by the public.

you want to hate someone for britneys popularity or style choice ? hate the people who made it possible ... the people putting money in the pockets of the people who keep her where she is.

sure, its a guy instinct .. i want to much to hate celine but why ? i dont have to listen to her music ... she wouldnt exist without an appreciative audience ..

and she does have nice legs ..

becuz it brings us together

something to talk about. also, its a nice mirror on our own lives. we can look at jlo, spears, etc etc and point out all the crap that is wrong with them. can look at them, look at us, compare...

just like talk shows. yeh theres a lot of fuck heads on there but im sure theres people watching that are thinking 'wow. its nice to know im not the only one'

peoples lives are interesting. its called realism. i'll watch biography on people ive never fuckin hard of, cuz its interesting. i watched VH1 on Shania twain, something about her losing both her parents, having to raise her brothers and sisters yada yada yada. celebrity or not, there are people out there that go through that same shit and can relate to each other. same with jim carrey, hell i even watched the ted nugent one.

but ya, there is of course the extreme where people subscribe to every fuckin US weekly, people, Star etc etc and its ALLLLL they speak about..
