Ok this music forum needs a new thread bad, so here's a generic one.....
What's the best concert you've ever been to. and who played? What the fuck made it so special?!?!?!
Mine was Thrice at a bowling alley....It was stuffy and smoky and pitch black, but the acoustics in there were awesome! Go Thrice!

I seen "the evens" last month and met Ian Mackaye, which was one of the coolest things in my life.

I remember I went to a Coheed and Cambria show and they were supposed to play an hour and a half set...
They played every song they've ever done (3 albums and some B-sides) and it went for a little over 2 and a half hours. That was pretty sweet too.

Dave Matthews Band with Evanescene a close second, either one of them did anything special but I love the music.

Mayhem. at a tiny local bar here in Little Rock, AR. Not many people were there and I got to meet every one of those guys. Wict Goatwhore being second. because I got to ride around with sammy duett and two other members and chill with them and exhumed being third because they got to use my drummers drum kit 'cause thiers was with the other band that didn't show.
But I'v also seen
cannibal corpse
cryptopsy
morbid angel
hate eternal
pantera
slipknot
himsa
death by stereo
trivium
the list goes on and on. I'v seen alot. and most in these tiny clubs where you can be right there next to them and hang out and drink beer with them after the show.

METALLICA on the Master Of Puppets Tour 1986 at Birmingham
Odeon. They were just making it big time and the vibe and hype at the time was intense.Fortunately the band lived up to expectation and ripped through 2 hours of some of the most aggressive and furious metal I have ever witnessed.
What made it more memorable if that is the right word to use was that just a week later Cliff Burton died tragically and I felt so privileged to have seen the great man in action.I had not ever seen then or have seen since bass playing as brilliant as that.

I've seen Chimaira 3 times, each time better than the last...and their last show......simply fucking amazing.
Not only was the show on my birthday, but the opener was Machine Head, and their set was brilliant. They played a lot of their older shit, and then a lot of shit from their recent album. Then Chimaira came on and played nearly every song from both "Pass Out Of Existance" and "The Impossibility of Reason". They also played a few songs from "This Present Darkness" which fuckin rocked. Then in the middle of their set, Rob Flynn from Machine Head came out and did some fuckin Slayer, Sepultura and Pantera covers. Then Chimaira finished off their set. Chimaira was on stage for almost 2 and a half hours. Not to mention I got a few guitar picks from both bands, and I caught Kevin Talley's (chimaira) drumstick. I was front row as I always am at the concerts I go to. I believe Chimaira will always be the best band to see live.
'Twas a very happy birthday.

After 20 years of waiting - i saw The Soft Boys in a small club in toronto .. it was fantastic.
I saw Bowie in another small club ... it was outstanding too ..
Ther eis a Toronto area band called the Rheostatics .. they are always good but one of their shows was bigger than the others ..
i can name a few more memorables .. The Tubes, the Genesis cover band : The Musical Box, Mono ...
But the best show i ever saw .. the one that sent chills up my spine the whole way through :
was Burt Bacharach ... the man is a fucking showman ...
I'll put that performance up against anything ....

-Green Day at 1st Avenue in Minneapolis back in the day. I had a front row spot for whole rocking show.
-Foo Fighters playing a 1 hour acoustic set in a local Best Buy. We got there early, had front row spots, and met the whole band afterwards.
-The Toadies at 1st Avenue. I am a HUGE fan and this was their final show ever. They broke up in the parking lot right after they went off stage and have never gotten back together.
-Up In Smoke Tour. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eminem, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Xzibit, Obie Trice, D12, The Eastsidaz. Then at the end, MC Ren and Yella from NWA came out with Dre and Cube for an NWA reunion. Snoop filled in for Eazy E. If you are a rap fan, how can that lineup ever be matched?
-NOFX at 1st Avenue. Nothing special. Just one of the most rocking shows ever in the best club for seeing a rocking show in the Twin Cities! NOFX always skipped Minnesota on their tours because like 15 years ago, they were here, went to a party, and then someone beat one of their friend's to death. (There's a song about it. Malaki Crunch.) Anyways, they held a grudge and never came here so when they finally did, man it was awesome! Sure as hell beat driving to Wisconsin to see them too! (Everything is always that much better when it's not taking place in Wisconsin.)
I've seen 50 some concerts and two hundred some bands in my day and those are the five best.

Good call. They've been my favorite band for years and years. Bad Religion rocks, period. They put on some really fucking excellent shows too that I've been to but due to the clubs they were playing, none of those shows made my top 5.

Are you seriously trying to compare those 2 lineups? First of all, Eminen, Obie and D12 are on both so they just cancel each other out. After that, we are left with...
50 Cent
Stat Quo
G-Unit
Lil Jon and the Eastside boys
Ludacris(2 days)
Dr. Dre
Snoop Dogg
Ice Cube
Warren G
Nate Dogg
Xzibit
The Eastsidaz

There is no contest that Up In Smoke had a MUCH deeper lineup. Plus, I've seen Ludacris and he sucks live. Typical live rap show with 10 dudes all standing out there yelling shit into the microphones to the extent that you can't make out what any of them are even saying. I like Luda's songs, but he is a studio artist and without someone behind the boards cleaning him up, he sucks. I judge good musicians on their ability to perform it live, not just in a studio... They can make anyone sound good in a studio.
It's my opinion that the lineup for Anger Management 3 is not even anywhere close to the lineup for Up[ In Smoke.

Since you live in NY, they probably play a lot of shows. I love hardcore but not the crazy-core, the way they dance is shit. "ITS ABOUT THE MUSIC!" not hitting someone in the face.

Lol. I hate those fuckers. They come stomping up at you like they are about to attack until you elbow their sweaty moshing body away from you. I also hate the crowd surfers. I have been known to throw fists when some fucktard's shoe comes crashing down on to my head from behind.

i remember years ago at a Cramps show, some guy surfing fell off the end and was using my shirt collar to stop himself from hitting the cement .. choking the shit out of me..
all i could do was crush his hand with mine and he let go real quick ...
i thought he was going to flip out and he just got up off the floor, and said 'sorry man!' and off he went.
it was my first 'i'm too old for this shit' moment.

The best show I have ever been to was The Misfits, this past November. I hadn't seen them since 97, and my friend and I drove all the way to Chicago (5 hour drive) to see it. Jerry and Dez were so cool, and stayed after the show to make sure EVERYONE there got to say hey, and take pics.
