What are some good horror/sci-fi flix?? I really dont have many of those in my collection. Of course I have Alien, The Thing, Predator (if you count that), Faculty..... And dont recommend Jason X. I remember liking Species and the Blob but it was a long time ago so i dont know if I will like it now.

PS. Im waiting for Invasion of the Body Snatchers from Netflix.

My goodness! There are hundreds and hundreds of good movies to watch.

These suggestions come to mind offhand, and don't necessarily represent "the best" in my mind, just a smattering of good titles you might like to check out.

Science Fiction: Forbidden Planet, The Time Machine (original), Westworld, Timerider, Cocoon.

Horror: The Haunting (original), Night of the Living Dead (original),
Dawn of the Dead (original), House on Haunted Hill (original), 13 Ghosts (original), The Blob (original).

I think you actually wanted films that are both science fiction and horror, and some of these films fit into both categories like that.

I thought "Terminator II" was a good science fiction/horror crossover that delivered the goods. So was the first film, but the sequel cranked the horror up to full with the T-1000 character. Pretty nasty stuff, if'n you think about it!

If you´re into Science fiction horror, you should definitely look up "Event Horizon".;)

STARSHIP TROOPERS.

After a dodgy first half hour this film is then an absolute rip roarer.
When I saw this at the cinema the special effects and action blew me away.Plenty of gore too.

Starship Troopers was very good.....however..

do not, and I repeat... do not rent or buy the second Starship Troopers, it is incredibly bad, and I'm not messing about. It does the first one, absolutely no justice what-so-ever, it doesn't compare. You will waste your money and time watching it. Of all sequals I have ever watched, this has to be the biggest letdown continuation of a series.

I actually bought Starship Troopers 2...

It's like a bad "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"
It's fun, a cool lil' B-movie.

I recommend it for a laugh.

THX-1138 not really much of a horror movie tho but it has a tense claustraphobic tone kinda like Cube. But it is a scarey vision of the future.

See, this is why you NEVER watch a stright to video sequal to a major motion picture. If it was going to be anything other than shit, they would have at least attempted to make it a real movie...

For sci-fi horror, go no further than the Alien movies.

I'll tell you what NOT to get, VIRUS. Worst sci-fi/horror movie EVER.

No?! It's George Lucas' first film. It started off as a student film them American Zoetrobe studios picked it up and he fleshed it out more. Very very cool movie that always gets eclipsed by Star Wars.

I remember not liking Virus at all....very lame movie if I remember correctly.

I haven't seen Starship Troopers 2 yet. I'll probably have to check it out to see just how fucking bad a straight to video sequel can be....who knows it might be so bad its good.

Has anyone seen the Xtro movies? I was looking at them in the store the other day and thought they might be good. They looked like the whole Aliens/Predator/Sci-Fi/Horror thing. I heard some people say there really shit tho.

For a real bad (but in a good way) Sci-Fi horror you should check out a movie called Breeders!

Just watched AVP (alien vs predator).... the fighting scenes and cool special effects made me enjoy it enough. You may wanna just fast forward to those scenes. But if you are looking for good plot and characters, look elsewhere. I lost a little respect for Predator. I thought soon he was gonna kiss the girl. He changed from that bad ass mofo from part 1 that would kill anything that moved. sheesh

"Dune"(Lynch) is a decent sc.fi movie...with some horror elements

To be honest I don't think that there is any other Sci-Fi/Horror movie (meaning both elements in one movie) better than Alien. I mean some consider it the scariest movie ever made, certainly by today's standards its not very scarry but during the time it came out it was some freaky shit. I mean come on, alien rape, thats just bizzar and extremly creative at the same time!

Constantine, I just saw that movie and I'd have to say that it was a lot better than I thought it would be, but I like religious horror movies like the Omen (I-III, IV sucked ass!), and Devil's Advocate. And actually I didn't really see the comic book element in Constantine.

Speaking of comic books, is any one going to watch Man-Thing when it premiers on Sci-Fi channel April 30? That wil probably be a decent Sci-Fi/Horror movie.

Damn, talk about an open-ended question!

I have around 700, and there are thousands more. I guess I would start with the "Famous" or well known horror movies like The Exorcist, The Omen, The Evil Dead Series, The Hell Raiser Series, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead (original) and Day of the Dead, then branch out to the B&W Classics (Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Dracula, Creature from the Black Lagoon) then branch out even further to the more un-obvious (is that a word?) movies that mainstream audiences may not have heard of like Dog Soldiers, Night of the Demons, Seven Doors of Death, JU-ON etc...

Read horror movie forums like this one and see what everyone's talking about. There is a variable warehouse of knowledge regarding horror movies on this site. All you gotta do is pay attention and read.

Seems like some people think I mean any horror movie, but Im talking about Horror/Sci Fi.... Movies that have both horror elements and also Science Fiction... such as Alien, The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Thing. I dont mean movies like Dracula.

These I dont recomend:
"Hellraiser 4"......in space
"Critters 4".......in space
"Jason x"...in space... not as bad though

Yep, I misunderstood you. Normally a "/" means "and - or" but to each their own.

Anyway, for horror-Scifi, the Alien films are a no-brainer. Other than that...try;
Event Horizon (Your best bet!!!)
Hellraiser: Bloodline
Jason X (Not the best)
Starship Troopers (1st. one only)
Species (1 and 2 are okay)
The Forgotten
Ghosts of Mars (not the best, but okay for a one time view).
Planet of the Apes
Night of the Comet
Phantasm (series)
Red Planet
Sphere
The Thing
Tommyknockers

There is not that many movies that legitimately combine the two genre's, and even less that do it well. I was hard pressed to come up with these.

^^ Phantasm is a great fucking series. I can't find the fourth one over here anywhere but I loved the other three especially Phantasm II. I really liked Ghosts Of Mars (and pretty much everything Carpenter has ever done)

p.s - I can't be fucked argueing on how good/bad Ghosts of Mars was........so don't it's been done.
