I mean seriously hollywood needs to come out with something a little bit better than a retarded version of Chainsaw Massacre and Cabin Fever(which by the way speaks for itself LOL). anyways Where have all the nightmares gone i mean i havent had one of them in like Years>?

Ever time someone mentions how terrible Cabin Fever is, that makes me like it just a little bit more. I wasn't terribly impressed with it, but I don't think it's god-awful. The more I hear people bad mouth it, the more I want to take up for it. It's kind of like Last House on the Left I suppose.

nobody does horror anymore because no one can think of anything fresh. its sad but true. it makes me sad that they can't make any more horror icons like they did in the 80s. i guess the closest that we have to a horror icon would be the creeper from jeepers creepers. its also making me rather perturbed that they're now ruining icons with the new sequels and remakes like H20 and i know some of you people like avenger like this movie but jason x was bad and irrelevent to the series. but now hollywood feels compelled to rip of asian films.

HAHA nicely put nicely put. well my biggest qualm with new horror movies is that instead of trying to scare ppl, now hollywood is just trying to put as much gore into a movie as can be allowed by the censors. And dont get me wrong i LOVE GORE. but i need more than just gore to scare me and THAT IS WHAT HORROR IS ALL ABOUT (being scared.)

I think you gotta go back farther than the 80's to find true HORROR icons. I just don't see how a demented nutcase in a mask packing a knife or something killing a bunch ot teenagers who are too stupid to get away is horrifying at all. Movies like that are good for a little laughter and even some degree of tension every now and then. But they spend more energy trying to startle you by some sudden, unexpected event than trying to actually build a paralyzing fear in the pit of your soul! That's what I call horror.

I actually haven't been seeing that much gore in the newer movies. I expected an absolute gore-fest from Cabin Fever but I didn't get it. Still dug the flick though, just wasn't as gory as they led on.
