View Full Version : just rented these movies
Just rented "Saw", "Donnie Darko (director's cut)" and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)". Hopefully, they will be pretty good and won't waste my time. I wanted to see Saw in the theatres but never got chance to. Donnie Darko (director's cut) is suppose to be better with over 20 mins of additional footage. After the praise of Invasion got from here, I wanna check that out as well.

i didn't even know donnie had a director's cut hmmm
still haven't had a chance to see saw
and have only seen the ending of invasion
i think i want to see the origional first and then follow i up with pupetmasters and the faculty
this calls for a movie theme night!
Just saw Donnie Darko. I was slightly disappointed in it bc all the raves it got. It started off good but got slow in the middle and picked up at the end. I felt this movie tried to be too artsy fartsy and didnt build up enough suspense or spooks. I completely understood the whole movie but I was like "where is this going" sometimes. And it didnt spook me at all. Reminded me of another movie that tries to be way too artsy fartsy "Mulholland Drive". Nevertheless, i would give it a 7/10..... Just expected more from it.
After reading Donnie Darko message board, it seems like everyone has their own little interpretation about what this movie is about. I'll give it another try sometime and maybe I'll like it more next time.

I loved Donnie Darko, but I have not seen the Director's cut. I'm sure the director's cut will be even better than the theatrical release. I hated the movie Saw and thought Invasion of the Body Snatcher's was good.

if you rented it believing it was a horror movie, then maybe that's why you were disappointed. just because it has a freaky looking giant bunny, i would hardly classify donnie darko as horror.

all three are good movies. i liked the idea of donnie darko, although slightly confusing to some at first, it was still good.

...
I just finished watching "Saw". I give this movie an 8.5 out of 10. It just kept me more entertained than Donnie Darko. I liked the plot in Saw. The serial killer setting his victims up in cruel and unusual traps.
SPOILER: DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT "SAW" IT.
Some reasons why I liked Saw are the cool looking traps the killer set up. We gotta admit the mouth trap was pretty sick and we were hoping to see it go off attached to her. too bad. haha. I heard people kill the ending, but I thought it was good and I didn't predict that. I want the unpredictable endings that goes bad, instead of the happy ending. I was more expecting more of "cop gets killed, killer runs through room and Gordon kills him with a "saw". And everyone is lives happy." Oh and it had enough gore to keep me happy. Tons of blood. The head bashing was great and it was to pretty much to another innocent victim which makes it even better.
