This is my pet rat, Pootie. He likes to watch monster movies and eat potato chips! But he stayed up late one night watching TV, and woke up with the sniffles. Anyway, he wants you all to send him five dollars, so he can pay the rent again.....I mean, so he can buy cold medicine.

Awwwwww, I love little rats.

Here's a cool rat page for you rat fanciers out there:

http://www.geocities.com/susanlikesrats/cutebody.html

It's true: Some people see a rat, say, in a horror movie, and they scream, "Jeezus! Get that thing away from me!" whereas other people see that same horrible rat, and say, "Awwww cuuute!"

It kill sme when they show rats in movies. They always use the same domesticated norwegian rats we all have as pets (The Graveyard Shift springs to mind as the most recent example i have seen)

There is this horrible squeeking, and the people are usually screaming in terror, meanwhile, when they show the "vicious beasts", they are cleaning themselves, staring, cleaning each other, shewing on something, or doing that cute little lick their chops, i look like im talking thing they do.

it is impossible for me to feel even slightly threatened by them. They dont even bite....

the real rats .. that live in alleys and eat garbage ... are not nice cute cuddly rats .. they're huge and mean as hell ..

Yeah, but they dont use them in movies.

Except for The Bone Collector. Those ones were pretty vicious.

Yeah...a friend of mine went down the wrong alley one night back in the 80's...and these things came leaping out of a dumpster like miniature maniac wolves, he said...they were totally planning of having his ass for dinner, but he outran them. Yes, they chased him.

And then there is that trailer for "The Rats Are Coming, The Werewolves Are Here" which features caged white rats, clearly nibbling on sunflower seeds and suchlike. They look pretty friendly! Wonder what the werewolves were like......

Rats are severely underrated as pets....People have in mind that their diseased vermin, when really they are very clean....They're great pets for kids as well.....Very gentle....I've loved all the rats I've owned.....I used to have one that hung out with me wherever I went (Except work of course)....It would ride around in my shirt pocket.....

I used to let mine sit on my shoulder while i playe don the computer. Around the 9th or 10th time she pissed on me, i decided to give it a rest.

Those little bastards can hold a ton of piss....

i never got pissed on .. had 4 different rats ..(including a big white lab rat saved from certain death from the University of Toronto medical department.

they have to be the smartest, most gentle 'small animals' ever.

i wanted to say that gerbils were also very gentle but a certain hollywood personality has tainted their image. stained it .. so to speak.

Bananaland Rats are fun! I used to have a white one, we called him Aspirin.
Your rat looks more like a squirell though, you might wanna have him checked out.

A rat named Aspirin! (lol)

As far as Pootie's being a squirrel, yeah, I just looked under his tail, and yeah, I guess he is a squirrel...

He is watching "Horror of Dracula" right now.....

It looks like some kind of pink salamander/shark hybrid, holy jeez, I hope I never run into one of those in a dark alley. It looks like it would clamp down on you like a Gila Monster.

we have those little fleshy tubes with teeth at the toronto zoo ..

it was funny when they brought them in .. as with any new animal the Zoo runs an AD campaign to generate interest ..

with the naked more rat they were getting people going with the morbid interest angle .. promoting the fact that 'they eat their dead'

the ads were like "hey !! I'm just sleeping!!"

we've had 2 mice, a hamster and a dwarf hamster die in the past year. very sad, all of them :(

Im sorry to hear that lbm... I honestly think i will be more broken up over my rat than i will the dog. of course, weve had the rats a year longer.... And the rats never shit on the floor ;)

We have alittle black mouse who has a tumor now. She appears healthy, but its on her shoulder so she looks like quasimoto now.

Pootie woke up early this morning. Pootie likes oatmeal! Pootie watched "Dawn of the Dead" today.

He started jumping up and down on the couch when the bikers were ransacking the mall. When he does this, he springs up on his feet and really flies up into the air. It alarms me. I had to calm him down, told him the movie wasn't real. He said, "I know it's not real, but I like it anyway!"

He's over his sniffles, but his room got messy and needs cleaning up. He wants you all to send five dollars, so he can pay the utilities down...I mean, so he can buy cedar shavings.

Marroe: Pootie says he can fit you in for lunch next Thursday. He's on a plane to Florida for a business meeting but he says he'll come right back and then he wants to take you to to see "Dawn of the Dead." He says, "Marroe is frieeeeendlieeee! She's a pretty girl cat!"

I have no idea what he means by this. I just type what I hear...

YIPE! Eeeek!

I took his photo and it came out like that, I don't understand it either...maybe my camera is psychic or something!

You can get all the squirrels (squirrel pictures, that is) at:

It's the best squirrel site anywhere!

The latest topic is Squirrels and Pizza.

I will put some pizza and nuts down for Pootie, because he likes them, and it's an easy way to round him up when he's off cavorting in the park. He'll come running, have a few bites, and then I toss him in the Squirrel Sack!

But lately, these Industrial Strength squirrels have been showing up, and as soon as I throw the pizza and nuts down, they emerge and devour everything.

This is becoming a severe financial burden! You have to help me buy more pizza to satiate the evil Industrial Strength squirrels!

Each of you will now send me five dollars, thank you in advance!

Pootie's mean all of a sudden! He said, "I don't want picture, so you will take down any picture if I so demand it" and I said "No I won't Pootie" and he said "Yes you will, YES YOU WILL" and then he commenced jumping up and down on the couch again until I got scared and so I told him I would do whatever he said.

But he wanted me to remind you to all send five dollars, he's wondering why it's taking so long and he's getting upset, because he really needs to pay filmmaker2's car insurance, I mean, he needs to buy rat food for himself.

My cats are ruthless creatures when it comes to rodents. they do some sick stuff, as if it were right out of a horror movie. They once ripped out this poor little mouse's intestines. poor little guy.

This one time one of them got a hold of a chipmunk, and ATE IT'S HEAD!! or at least part of it. no joke, we had chipmunk brains on our rug.

Poor little guy.

I looked in Pootie's cage this morning and received a shock. Pootie went through a strange metamorphosis last night!

No longer is he a common rat. Now he is a baby koala bear! Instead of a nut whore, he's a eucalyptus leaf whore! Where am I gonna get his food? They don't sell eucalyptus leaves at the corner store.
