indeed, what is wrong? Last night i went to one of the lamest movies EVER, and it even carried really lame trailers too.
one was called "Curse" or "Cursed" anyway its about rabid dogs or something, really lame animation.
The secound was "Hostage" staring Bruce Willis. It just looks so-so
And the third was called "the Cave", which tag line was "underneath heaven is hell , and underneath hell is........THE CAVE" same story line as AVP just with a giant bat.
Why?!?! why must there be shitty movies put out, especially whith really lame titles as these ones.

I'm curious what this lame movie was.

Hollywood is mostly all about dumb movies these days anyway - stick to independent stuff is my advice.

What is wrong with hollywood..... are you serious? Hollywood makes great films always! They always try new things, very creative. Hollywood is just the best!

everything is a retread of something else....unfortunately we as the audience represent dollar signs...so we're stuck seeing new forms of movies that made money at some point...we get lucky every so, when a new vision or voice gets funded and makes its way to a screen or video store near us...ideas are never exhausted....just the same ol' pigs in power that need our money to buy their 3rd vacation home in aspen....thats why we get "hitch" and "oceans 12"

Ok, Hollywood is wanting to make money, yes? Well, how does one make money off of movies? Make one that will sell a lot. If a movie sells a lot, that generally means that that's what the people liked. So, basically, Hollywood is giving the general public what it wants, and also does make some damn good movies. So, the people are to blame. If they would go see the movies that we (ie: you guys who are complaining) like, then Hollywood would make more of that.

Blaming "Hollywood" is tired anyways. There are just as many shitty indy and foreign movies.

the reason theres so many shit movies is coz if your just eny
shit director,in hollywood they let you make a movie,or if your jewish , but if your a great director down under and stuff, your movie wont be good coz you wont have eny money an like the guys from the saw movie had to go to u.s.a but the hollywood said no cozz they only like u.s.a cunts so the saw guys had to go make a sorta lil movie to show them first ... its bull shit

Thats true but there all PG-13. They're not original. Hollywood tries to appeal to a mass target crowd. Horror is in, but not the Horror most of us love. When it was big in the 70's, that was Horror's Golden age (not to say good movies aren't still coming out). They're mostly crappy movies starring people like "Tara Reed"....

Why would anyone pay too see that! Why!

its just like all of the music that does so well... that most of us here loath .. these films are aimed toward the demographic that drops the biggest dollar at the box office .. and that would be the kids ..

trust me .. it's my biggest frustration .. it takes a filmmaker with big balls to aim outside that age group and make the films we like to see.

what it comes down to is people have bad taste and are assholes...i'm an american citizen, but i didn't go see ice cube light up the screen in "are we there yet" over the weekend.....apparently lots did....it was #1....i feel that i have a right to criticize major studios because what they are selling is tired and unimportant....and since its my opinion, its the only one that counts..

the new trend I've noticed in thrillers and horror is children. Granted its been done in the past but now the kids are all pale and ghostly.
My biggest problem is that a movie might be worth watching for five minutes and after that its crap but Im not the type of person to just watch five minutes, I give everything a chance. Take ghost ship. When everyone on the boat is slaughterd its extremly entertaining. The facial expressions the sound effects and the little girl who survived the cord and watched all the grown people around her fall to the ground in two. That was wicked and even the idea behind the ghost ship was alright, the whole wicked sin and greed, but you can get that from the bible. Anyhow, that gives ghost ship a cool opening and neat plot but NONE of that saved that damned movie. Cabin Fever, however had the makings of being horrible, cliche teen horror. It wasn't though. It was thrilling and tit free, good gore and imaginative scenes. It was creepy in all the right places and made me cringe which is a bold statement. It wasn't just a bunch of boos, its held suspense.
I think I just left the deep end and forgot my point, this happens a lot.

If you went to see Alone In The Dark, then it is not Hollywood that has the problem. They have succeeded in doing what they set out to do-get people to pay for garbage. Yes, Hollywood has absolutely hideous taste, but you easily led lemmings who shell out your hard earned dollars aren't helping either. Is it so difficult to see that movie would be bad? Use your fucking brain.

hollywood has bad taste ?
Hollywood is nothing more than a reflection of the people who see the movies.
They use very calculated decisions when making the bulk of movies based on who is likely to pay for it.

this is kind of what you are saying but its not Hollywood that has bad taste .. its the public that proves time and time again what films are finantially viable to make.

Here is my theory (kind of like gravity is a theory, its law, but it still breaks some rules, so it is called a theory)

Hollywood wants to make movies that sell tickets. Quality has 0 to do with it. This is why we cant get a decent lovecraft flick, but we have Darkness Falls and Freddy Vs Jason.

I wish the show Action with jay Mohr was still on, they made fun of hollywood perfectly. Everyone in that show was a selfish, back-stabbing asshole. The bottom line was everything.

Gordon Gekko has left the stock market and now sits on the board of directors for every major studio on earth.

I garuntee, if Titanic wasnt made by Jim Cameron, or he didnt retain the amount of rights that he did, we would have a sequal to it by now. It may have been straight to video, and would have starred leo and kate look-alikes, but we would have it. It would sit next to "Bring it on Again" and Starship troopers 2.

Correct

by the way, Jay mohr is a queer... (no, not a real queer)
