Hmmmmmmm I still like them..........don't always agree but it is interesting. Most of the movies I haven't seen. Love Annette Benning though. She is a great actress and one class act. Would love to see her get it.

Clint is the oldest............has the best shot, but Johnny deserves it. Leonardo has done very little worth shit up till now. Then again, I hated the Titanic with a passion!

Kate Blanchett is one of my fav actresses............hope she gets something.

And...................where are the HORRORS?????????????????

Silence Of The Lambs was sure the exception.

what are half these movies?
i saw incredibles....i really wanna see sideways...but aside from those?

nobody saw ray....cmon!

what the fuck is million dollar baby?

my parents saw the aviator...so i'd never see it....wheres paul giamatti, for american splendor?

THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN THE OSCARS IS THE GRAMMYS.

but thanks for posting the nominees....i neede to rant.

discussing who'll win best actor this year is like doing the same for best actress last year; pointless. Jamie Foxx will win.
Also, Leo did Gangs of New York, which placed on my top 100 movie list, and did a fantastic job in The Aviator.

If there were any movie justice, Aviator would get director and supporting actress, Christian Bale would get Actor for The Machinist, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind would sweep the rest

I agree with the Ray part, it should have just stuck with Actor. Million Dollar Baby, however, was a pretty great movie, and was in my top 5 for the year, so I have no problem with it getting nominated.
The fact that your parents saw The Aviator is a pretty shit reason not to see it.
American Splendor got snubbed LAST year.

I usually see all of the ones that were nominated, even if it is after..........just to see.

I think it was last year.....................thought the Hours should have got it for best pic. That was amazing. Excellent pic.

Other than horrors I generally like movies about tortured people......lol

 :p

The Hours was the year before last. Last year was Return of the King.
I still think it's hilarious hearing the titles "Bad Taste" and "Meet the Feebles" being uttered during the Oscars. Especially during acceptance speeches.

the incredibles wouldnt be slow to you if you were middle aged .. holding down a job ... its pretty funny because you can relate to the soul sucking aspect of the daily grind and the challanges of child rearing.

shark tale on the other hand is a movie for people who dont like to think - or cant. i dont know anyone who liked it.

I got soooo super pissed when it didnt get nominated for Best Picture. It's by far the best movie I've seen that was released in the last year. Maybe the last 5 years. It's amazing, and this makes me lose respect for the Oscars. And to think, they had just earned it back by giving LOTR 11 of them...

The STE
01-26-2005, 01:13 PM
They only need to give out one to earn my respect back. That one is Best Director, and it NEEDS to be given to Scorsese. That will outweigh any snub.

But, yeah, Eternal Sunshine is, easily, the best movie I've seen since 2000, and one of the best movies I've seen period (I put it at 24 on my top 100 list)

orangestar
01-26-2005, 01:27 PM
heh. Its number 6 on my top 20.

But you've seen quite a few more movies then I have...

I do hope Martin Scorses gets the oscar for Best Director. I was disappointed that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind did not get a nomination for Best Picture, it's such a great film.

Is that movie that good?

You remember "Kings of new york" right? Remember how great that movie was......

To me, Scorsese only made one GREAT film.... "Taxi Driver", fucking amazing!

I can't argue with you on Taxi Driver being great (since it's the best movie ever and all), but Scorsese also made Mean Streets, Raging Bull, Last Temptation of Christ, GoodFellas, and Gangs of New York was great (all those made my top 100). He also made Bringing Out the Dead, Casino, and Cape Fear, all of which were really good. I haven't seen Kundun, but I hear great things about it.

But, you said "to me", so whatever.

But to answer your question, the movie is that good. Not the best movie of the year, but about 3rd for the year behind Eternal Sunshine and The Machinist

i wish people would stop hiring leonardo for films ... although i heard he was good in The Aviator

it's hard to tell if he's getting better or not. He's been really good lately, but Scorsese can make anybody look good. The jury's out until he does a good job without Scorsese

He does. And a good druggy in 'Basketball Diaries'.

A good angry teen in 'This Boys Life' with Robert De Niro.

I think that he is a solid actor. He always gives an above average performance for all his movies.

I like Leonardo, but it's only b/c of about a millisecond scene in "Celebrity." Ever since then I've liked him, even though I know I'm not supposed to.
