So this year we have "The Amityville Horror", "Boogeyman", "Hide and Seek", "Dark Water", The Ring 2", "Alone in the Dark", "The Jacket" and a bunch I'm sure I'm missing.
So it seems there's quite a bit of major motion picture horror/thrillers coming out.
But the question is.... how many of em are going to SUUUUUUCCKKK?
The only two I'm thinking are gonna be good will be Ring 2 and Dark Water, but what do y'all think?

Forgot about Land of the Dead, I saw a couple shots from it about a month or so ago, they looked pretty good. They were all production stills though, no actual movie footage.
Dakota Fanning in Hide and Seek looks good, but there just doesn't seem to be enough in that movie for it to actually be freaky. DeNiro's good enough to pay 8 bucks for, though.

The Ring 2 is kindof an interesting situation. People here either loved it or hated it, and most people don't like even the idea of remaking Asian horror movies (or any horror movie). And this is a sequel to a remake, and people don't like sequels.
BUT, this has the same director as the original Ringu. "But Sam, The Grudge had the Japanese director, too, and that sucked!" Stimmt das, Imaginary Quote Person, but The Grudge was a remake. The Ring 2 is not a remake of Ringu 2, it's its own movie...sortof. So it's a sequel to a remake of a movie that had a sequel, but this sequel isn't a remake of that sequel, and this sequel has the same director of the original movie. I'm not even going to get into the book or the TV movie.
Basically, it's not a remake and it has the original Japanese director, so it has a better chance of being really good than people might think.

Damn right, I totally agree. I posted a similar thread in the upcoming movies section about The Ring 2 making the same point. I like that Ring 2 is being done by Nakata, because Ringu kicked ass. But Ju On got remade into that horrible horrible film (why Raimi, WHY would you produce that?)
I dunno, America is going down that lonely road of remaking foreign films and turning them into trash.
