Okay, i had to share this with you all. I hope Stingy jack makes his way into this one, as he will appreciate it a lot. This is a farewell message from one of my leaast favorite support-burdens here at work. names and all other identifiers have been left out to protect the retarded.

To preface, this woman once called in to the help desk she couldnt figutre out why she couldnt get on the network or any websites. It only took me a minute to figure out that her computer was not PLUGGED IN with a network cable, but took 5 minutes of explaining for her to finally get it into her head that if she didnt plug it the fuck in, she would never connect.

She also tried to get me in trouble one time saying that i refused to help her. here is what happened:

Her: I cant get onto the wireless network

Me: We recently changed how you authenticate on the network. You need a digital certificate to connect with the wireless card. In order to get that, you need to be plugged in to the network with a cat 5 cable (which she should by now know how to use).

Her: I dont have one. i need you to get me on with the wirteless card.

me: That isnt possible unless you have connected with the wire and requested the scertificate.

Her: Why Not.?

Me: Because, I just told you, they changed the wireless authentication. The process is very simple, if you get a cat 5 cable, i can have you connected in under a minute and you wont need one ever again.

Her: I dont see why that is necesarry. i need to use my wireless card. if i had a cable, i wouldnt need the wireless, but i want to use it.

Me: Does anyone else nearby have one?

her: No.

Me: Are you sure, we are a networking company for one thing, and all of the desktop computers use cat 5. you cant borrow one for a minute?

Her: I dont understand what you mean. i just want to use my wireless, I have to go.

2 houres later, my boss says that he got a call from her boss saying that one of the helpdesk people refused to help her with her wireless card. I explained what happened, he called her a dumb bitch, and then called her boss back to tell him what went down.

Her boss (who is in sales, not technically proficient at all), had her up and running in 2 minutes. it was that fucking easy.....

This is over 2 years later that the dumb fuck is finally canned. here is what she sent:

Unfortuanately, I have been effected by the latest round of downsizing. Today is my last day. I'm almost at a lost for words. But wanted to atleast take a moment to say good bye and to thank you for all of your assistance of the years. I'm going to miss working with you.

Wow you're still annoyed by something a co-worker did 2 years ago?

She wrote to thank you and you're still slamming her? Seems a little petty, Vod.

the 2 year old story was the worst in a long line of suffering at that woman's hands. The people i worked with in that company had a bad track record of consistency, if they were useless on the first call, that pretty much set the stage for the rest of their time there.

The thing that bugged me most about it was her trying to say i refused to help her when she refused to do the 1 thing even an infant could have done to fix her problem.

Hence why i am a programmer and not a tech support guy any more :D
