Yes you would. ;)

Im always going for the scary looking movies in the video store, even though i know that there is 90% chance of disapoinment. Im just so sick and tired of slasher movies. Seems like its just about the only horror comming from US this last decade. The same, the same , the same and the same....

But just about everything else is watchable. ;)

"The Fearless Vampire Killers" is one of the coolest movies ever made.

Here's a list of movies that scared me or creeped me out but good. It's not a total list, just a quick list off the toppa my head:

TCM (original and remake)
Night of the Living Dead
Starship Troopers
Lemora
Carnival of Souls
The Haunting
Horror of Dracula
The Muppet Movie

"Carnival of souls", is that the original version, coz that one sounds cool. :)

I would also like to add "Kronos". (You probably think "WHAT THE F***", but it actually scared me when i saw it the first time as a child).

"Saw". Wouldnt exactly call it creepy, but it certainly is exciting from the instant beginning to the hardcore end. The best horror movie together with "Dawn of the dead" in 2004, in my opinion.

By the way, has anybody seen the movie "Naked blood"?
It sounds disgusting, but also different in a weird facinating japanese way? So my question is: Is it good, interesting, or just plain disgusting? :confused

Blair Witch ...

did i like it .. not really ..
did i find it effective .... yes in part

The real problem with this film is that for some god unknown reason the media grabbed ahold of it and made it the flavour of the month so people flooded the theatres to see it ... some perpetuating the hype (because a few liked it and most are sheep that go with the popular flow).

a larger amount of people didnt like it because
a) they are horror fans and are used to low budget back yard movies so didnt see anything special about this one except for the inexplicable popularity.
b) they arent horror fans and just went to see it because they follow every trend. - like passion of the christ.

i dont think it has to be praised but it also didnt make me hate it ... i just took it for what it was and on that level it was ok..

i'm gonna have to disagree ... most people not into horror films (that i know) hated it..

I'd say - it's a horror film for people who follow media hype reguardless of what the film is about.

i'll use the 'passion' example time and time again .. it was the same damn thing ...

You think without the bullshit controversy 1/100 of the people who saw that film would normally go see a religous film ?
it aint Cecil B DeMille time .. those days are gone ..

The media will dictate to the sheep what to see. And they'll see it, and bitch about it later.

I Think The Blair Witch Project pisses people off because it is so different to what they are used to in terms of cinematic entertainment.

Many horror fans don't like it due to its unconventional structure and style, and the casual multiplex-goer is unable to suspend their disbelief enough to let the film seep into their bones where it becomes monstrously effective on an unrivalled level.

The best horror film of the 90's - I was rigid throughout (oo-er..!).

There were some people who thought it was really scary. There were a lot more people who thought it was stupid. A really good movie plants a thought in your head. An example would be watching a show about a killer who attacks his victims in the shower. Now, you could walk away thinking, "That was the dumbest thing I ever watched." However, when you shower, you get all freaked out and have to keep looking outside of the shower curtain to make sure you are alone. The BWP was not very relatable. It is not like it's going to happen to people. Relatability is scary.

Relatability is scary

Is seeing dead people "relatable" (The Sixth Sense)?
Chain saw-wielding cannibal families (TCM)?
Ghosts (The Others)?

Actually, reading your post again I sympathise with your lack of metal scope - do you really need your horror to be based around your everyday life?

The horror in BWP comes not from the seen and familiar, but from the unseen and the mysterious - the mystery which remains long after the film has finished and troubles your mind in the middle of the night.

But if you really need your "relatability", give the movie a passing thought when out camping in the woods - probably not a wise thing to do.

Relatable/relatability aren't even words.
