WHY?????????????????
Now a long time ago, someone mentioned this to me and I didn't understand how a silent movie had a soundtrack.
Well, got this version on a set where David Carrodine introduces.
It was not that the music was bad......pretty good, but it was distracting and all wrong!
I turned the volume off and watched it like it was meant to be SILENT!
Excellent film......Amazing how the sets and effects are even better then than some done today. True classic for sure!

FYI, During the silent movie era, most theater houses had pianoists and/or band/orchasteras playing during the showing.
I would still agree that the wrong music being played during a silent movie is definately distracting.

I assume that has Type O Negative playing? I completly agree I also put it on mute
I have 5 copies of Nosferatu, and as I sit here, I am watching the newest one that I just recieved. It must be the one that you are refering to regarding a "distracting" sound track, because I tell you, the sound track with this one is totally innapropriate for the movie. Distracting is an understatement. It destroys the enjoyment of the movie by allowing it to play. The music isn't bad, and the same soundtrack might have worked o.k. with a movie like Dracula 2000 or Queen of the Damned, but not a silent classic.
When it comes to Silent movies, I prefer a time/era appropriate soundtrack like what you would have heard a pianist play in a theater at the time of its original release.

well, doesn't that version also have the original score, too?
