View Full Version : Double Feature
I sat down to watch a couple of movies over the weekend and thought to myself...hmm......"what would make a good double feature".
My question to you fine people is just that.
I'm not talking the obvious....such as Friday the 13Th 1 and 2....something a little more clever than that.
For the record, my double feature over the weekend was.
"The Philadelphia Experiment" [ a navy battleship gets caught in a time warp in the year 1943 and two of its crew get transported to 1984 ]
and
"The Final Countdown" [ a navy battleship, The USS Nimitz, goes into a time warp in 1980 and is transported back to 1941, just hours before the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor.]

i thought only laserdiscs got rot ...
its where the glue holding the 2 discs together is contaminated - as far as lasers go.
is it the same for DVDs ?
anyway .. just as well shanksie .. toss all 3 and pick up a copy of manhunter .. and you're better off !

Underworld/Van Helsing are good together [Yes, I do know that alot of you hate them. I dont care]
Pit and the Pendulum/Fall of the House of Usher is Good, too
But a few months ago, me and my friends had a deadly multi-feature night at my house. I got to chose the movies, of course, as it was near Halloween, and Im known amongst my friends as the horror expert :p
Anyway, we started off with a none too scary horror classic [And also an excuse to introduce them to the amazing actor, Vincent Price] Pit and the Pendulum. Followed by the, still not scary, but the most enjoyed film of the night [By all 3 of us] House on Haunted Hill, remake of course. Then we hit the classics. Dawn of the Dead [Original] was next on the roster, and was enjoyed more for laughs than anything [Nobody here can say they werent laughing at some of the deaths in that movie], but was enjoyed by all nonetheless. And finally, to cap it all off, the classic, orignal Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Sure, we had way to much sugar that night, and laughed at some things[Mostly Leatherface, lol], but I did apreciate it as a damn good horror movie [Although I think I was the only one there to share that opinion, lol]
Damn good night

na normal dvds can get it too.... it's the wrong ink they use to print the labels on the outer surface, reacts with the glue that binds the disc layers together, and when it spins in the player the velocity causes the layers to come appart and the outer ones crack away.
From time to time, I like watching an original then a remake back to back to compare.
Nosferatu and Shadow of the Vampire are an interesting match-up.
The Thing (W/James Arness) and The Thing (W/ Kurt Russell)
Dracula(Lugosi), Dracula(Lee), Dracula(Palance), Dracula(Langella)...I think you get the idea.
Also, as a triple feature, I like watching; Frankenstein, The Wolfman, then Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman.
