Man Charged In Gruesome Pet Killing
David Betournay Accused Of Using Ax To Kill Dog and Cat
Southampton, Massachusetts - A man is facing charges following a gruesome discovery.
David Betournay is accused of using an ax to kill a dog and cat in the basement of a Southampton home last week.
According to the Hampshire Gazette, Betournay pleaded innocent to one charge of cruelty to an animal. He was arrested after a friend told police that Betournay had killed that person's family pets.
Shawn Lynch told investigators that he was a witness to killings. The Hampshire Gazette reported that police found a double-sided ax covered with blood and what appeared to be animal fur.
Authorities also found a plastic bag containing the bodies of the two animals in nearby woods.
The charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in jail and up to $2,500 in fines.
