Man Stabs Parents In Drug-Induced Rage
Louisiana - A family dispute that turned into a son stabbing his mother turned out to be more than just one night of violence. You may not remember them, but you've met the family involved before.
Early Monday morning, Baton Rouge police were called to a home on Prescott Road, where a 22 year old had stabbed his mother and step father, supposedly in a drug induced rage.
It was at that same house a few weeks ago that somebody stole Christmas decorations off of their lawn. 9 News brought you the story of Mike, a recovering crack addict, who made many of the decorations as part of his rehab. At the time Mike's mother, Janie Bernal, worried that having his hard work stolen could turn him back to drugs.
Police say Mike's mother and step-father caught him smoking crack just hours before the attack. Mike is being charged with two counts of attempted murder. His mother is currently in the hospital recovering, his step-father was not seriously injured.
