That's a tough one......there's a lot of good ones out there......The View Askew/Kevin Smith movies have really good commentaries....The Goonies was good because they brought back the original cast years later and had them do commentary on it......it was cool.......TCSM and HOTC is also good.......I dunno.....all of them?

any commentaries by Kevin Smith and Bruce Campbell for laughs, and John Carpenter for information.
its amazing how many bad ones there are..
the absolute worse .. Evil Dead Trap with these two fucked up Japanese guys.
I dont think it was just their language skills .. they are either nuts deep in the loonie tunes or they just thought it would be cool to act it.
Either way the commentary is annoying nonsense.

My fave commentary is for Bloodletting, but any of the commentaries that Henrique Couto does for his films are hilarious.

Evil Dead - Bruce Campbell is fucking funny
Clerks - Jason is passed out and keeps waking up during it, plus the funny stories about making the movie

I heard that one for evil dead trap it was useless. Another great one is Cannibal Ferox, Umberto lenzi trying to justify the animal cruelty & comparing it to Apocalpse now & arguing with John morgren lmao.

The Lord of the rings movies are decent, the hobbits are funny.
Spinal Tap is the greatest Commentary ever. Go watch it.
The Omen was actually pretty good. Richard Donner is funny as hell.
28 Days Later. The commentary was almost as interesting as the movie.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Excorsist director's cut commentary was fucking painful William Freidkin is about as interesting as crumbled papier mache
Roger Ebert's commentary for Dark City also sucked. He said "Film noir" about 10 times in the first 15 minutes. i got tired of him (VERY pretentious) and turned it off, disgusted.

I though Road Kill was the best commentry I have ever listened to. I thought it was sooo good I have put it on again a few times for a good laugh.
It's sooo fucking funny. Two of the actors from the movie are doing it. Sorry, but I can't remember their names off the top of my head.
If you have it I recommend listening to it.

I am rather fond of:
The commentary tracks on the Director's Edition of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture"
and
"Big Trouble In Little China"
.....and "Zombie," as well, just for the heck of it.

I haven't heard it yet...but I just won an auction on ebay for the full UK version dvd of Shaun of the Dead...a commentary by zombies?!?
That's gotta be kinda funny...
As for the other commentaries, to be honest, I have like 65 or so dvds, and I don't think I've ever listened to one...?
Seems to me like it'd be similar to having some noisy jackass sitting near you in the cinema.
Although for the information kinda thing, it may not be too bad. I think I'd have to just listen to it and not watch the movie though...

Yeah ChEEbA, I don't usually watch the DVD's when I listen to the commentary. Usually browsing the net or posting on here... and just glance up to see what shot they are talking about.
It can be really interesting to find out little details like - This scene was re-done this many times because of... and, this scene was originally going to be... I love that shit.
You should have a listen ChEEbA.
Edit - fixed my spelling.

best use for DVD commentaries:
Doing the dishes or other chores. I agree, sitting through the commentary if that is ALL you are doing is not fun.

Well, I might just do that...the net surfing thing seems like a good idea...just like listening to a good radio program...I might give it a go with one of the "proper" shaun of the dead commentaries.
Thanks.

Evil Dead
Bruce Campbell's voice is perfect and he's hilarious. I also found it more informative than the Sam Raimi+Rob Tapert (sp?) commentary (and a lot more enjoyable.)
Seriously, it was better than just watching the movie.
I haven't listened to too many audio commentary's though, I just found out how great they are.

Since I've seen Fight Club probly 65 times I can just sit and listen to David Fincher for 2 hours talk about it while the real movie is running in my head.
Thats gotta be my favorite, he has so many little anecdotes about the shooting of the movie.
