Yeh I've been thinking of checking this one out. I've never seen it but I've been buying old VHS tapes for $2 or $3 and this ones popped up and I was thinking of getting it. If you check it out again let me know what its like. There was a sequel too if I remember correctly.
I too remember this movie and thought it was pretty sweet when I was younger. but I have a feeling if I were to watch it now, it'd be fun for nostalgia sake but that's about it. :) but for two bucks I'd buy it for shits and giggles

the dialogue leaves much to be desired, but once the haunting stuff takes full effect the movie starts kicking ass.

I too also loved this movie when i was young the part where angus dies still upsets me even though i know he comes back in the end.....I have had the VHS forever but i recently saw the DVD at Best buy for $5.99 and got it there.......there are no special features which sucks but o'well I also want to buy to second one but it's only available in Canada.

I never saw it,but it goes into the "poster gave me nightmares as a kid" pile. A flash of a tv trailer or a creative poster was all it took to get me terrified as a kid. Overactive imagination.

oh yeah, i remember now seeing the sequel. it was all about that terry kid the friend from the 1st one.
I got the DVD (The Gate). To me, it's more of a kids/family horror movie. Nothing to scary, a kid as a hero, etc... The Stop animation is alright, but in my opinion, it's not a horror movie for the adult.

I brought this the other day and enjoyed it. It definatley is more of a kids film but there are still some pretty gory bits. It was weird seeing Stephen Doriff as a kid. This was well worth the $1.50 I paid for it on VHS.
