What was the very first band that just REALLY did it for you?...Do you remember the first time that you just absolutely went crazy over a band?...

I thought about it for a while, and I remembered THE band that inspired my love of music.....I was 10 years old...Don't laugh...

The very first music that was any good, that I was exposed to on a regular basis (Having grown up with my uncles), was The Beatles...But, as much as I liked them...They just didn't do it for me the way that KISS did...

First Rock song I ever heard.....Doctor Love by Kiss, I was totally blown away, I think that was like 1977 or something like that and it was on frickin AM radio.


In I believe 1983 I heard Iron Maidens' song "Killers" I couldnt believe what I was hearing. Paul Dianno screaming his head off.

Dave Murray guitar riffs were so kool, I never in my life (hey I was like 14 or somethin') had heard such a beautiful sound. I thought the devil himself was playing guitar in my Sony Walkman.

Adrian Smiths guitar riffs were no cure for insomnia either.

Steve Harris' bass line was like a rolling freight train.

I fell in love with that band and still cant get enough of them today, plus they put on an excellent stage show.

I bet I can make everybody either laugh or gag: it was The Osmond Brothers. My very first concert (I was about 11 or 12 and my Mom took me). Now, if you're talking about ROCK then it's also KISS. My first rock concert (I was about 17-18).

My first introduction to rock music would have to be Grand Funk Railroad. My older brother had it on the turntable all the time.It was also my first concert....followed by Alice Cooper.

Roxy Music on their farewell tour.
Canada's Men Without Hats opened for them .. they were great too.

it was also the last stadium show i ever went to .. i decided there and then that i didnt like the impersonality of a venue like that and since have only been to small venues .. where the musicians can actually see you enjoying their music.

Even Bowie .. who i saw 10 years ago .. played in a very small club here in Toronto . the smallest venue he played on the tour ..
it was awsome - Bowie - 10 - 15 feet away .. 20 feet being the farthest from the stage ..

I would have loved to see Bowie.

House of Blues up north in CHicago is a great venue, it only holds a few hundred peeps.

I was so close to Lemmy I could grab hold of that thing on his face.

The best show I ever saw was Soundgarden at the Aragon Ball Room in CHi town.

Its a pretty kool place, has a very gothic feel to the building with the teracotta falling off the building and all.

THank the Gods they took the chairs out this time, I was at a show there to see Megadeth, years ago and they had metal chairs set up for us to sit on.

I am sorry, you get 2000 earthdogs,hellrats, and rivetheads into one venue to see a speed metal band and then expect them to not throw chairs around is pretty fookin stupid.

The first band for me was Offspring's album "Smash". I listened to that damn album every day, then I heard their other stuff... and got mad.

this guy was the classiest act EVER.
His tunes are genius ... Its not because i'm an old guy - his stuff is way before my time .. but it's timeless.

no bullshit in the show either .. he just poounded the audience with one huge hit after another.
Next to the beatles i dont think there is anyone who has more songs that you know - without knowing that you know it.

i dont care what style you listen to .. if you truely love and appreciate music .. you have to explore this guys stuff ...

The first record I ever bought was U2's The Joshua Tree. I still own it and listen to it on a regular basis. That album really amazed me at the time, and as I get older I find more and more to appreciate about it. One of the best of the Eighties, undoubtedly.

It was KISS for me as well, my friends and I would always dress up as KISS for Halloween.
