I was on the Troma website and read the Dimebag was dead. Found this at http://www-personal.umich.edu/~alfieii/pantera/news.htm

12/09/04 Reports are coming in from Columbus, Ohio, where an alleged shooting occurred at Alrossa Villa, the nightclub where Damageplan was performing tonight. The earliest reports indicate that Dimebag Darrell and one other band member were among those killed.
The following is posted at the Web site of WCMH TV Channel 4, the NBC affiliate in Columbus at http://www.nbc4i.com/news/3983630/detail.html (video report here)

At Least 5 Dead, 2 Wounded In Nightclub Shooting
Witnesses: Alleged Guman Went Onto Stage, Fired Shots

POSTED: 10:32 pm EST December 8, 2004
UPDATED: 1:40 am EST December 9, 2004

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- At least five people died and two others were wounded after a shooting at a Columbus nightclub on Wednesday night, NBC 4 reported.

The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. at Alrosa Villa, located at 5055 Sinclair Road.

Two members of the heavy metal band Damageplan were reportedly shot and killed, including Dimebag Darrell, formerly with the band Pantera, NBC 4's David Wayne reported. The other band member's name was not released. The alleged gunman also died at the scene, Wayne reported.

Columbus police Sgt. Brent Mall said the alleged gunman appeared to be targeting the band members. After shooting at the stage, the gunman opened fire on the crowd. At that point, an officer shot man dead, Mall added. Police said there could have been many more fatalities had the officer not killed the gunman.

Shortly after the band began playing its first song, a man reportedly ran onto the stage and began shooting, according to a witness who identified himself as Sean. Some members of the audience reportedly thought the man running onto the stage with a gun was part of the band's act, NBC 4's Erin Tate reported.

Witnesses said that several shots were fired at the band. Witnesses said that a bouncer at the club tackled the alleged gunman before that person was shot and killed.

NBC 4 reported that of the surviving victims, one person was in critical condition while the other was in fair condition. Several others were treated at the scene, suffering from various injuries.

Alrosa Villa is a popular north Columbus nightspot for young adults, featuring rock and heavy metal bands, NBC 4 reported.

According to the band's Web site, Damageplan was touring nationally. It performed in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday night and had a concert scheduled in Flint, Mich., on Thursday.

Damageplan featured former Pantera artists Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. The pair were joined by vocalist Patrick Lachman and bassist Bobzilla, according to their Web site.

Some crazy shit going on in the world. The thing I find interesting is that I didn't see anything about this on the news in NY or even on MTV. Pantera was one of the best most influential metal bands and a former member dies and there is nothing on music television. I bet if it were Brittney everyone and their mother would have reported it.

R.I.P. Dimebag

I heard this soon after I woke up (4 AM) and was disgusted.

By the way, there is a story about his death at the top of MTV.com's news page and has been there since about 7 AM.

You god damn, naive, ignorant cock knocker. You probably haven't heard a Pantera song in your deprived miserable life. If anything Phil Anselmo should've gotten his head blown the fuck off. Unlike Phil, Dimebag was one of the nicest, most non-violent dudes in the metal industry. Granted back in the day Phil was an awesome signer when Pantera started but now hes just a shut down racist fuckin drug addict.

Anyway, when I heard about this in the morning, I didn't believe it till I read the news for myself. Dimebag was one of the reasons I actually picked up a guitar. The man is a god damn legend among guitarists everywhere.

This is just absolutely fucked up. We have security guards in schools that will tazer a child for having a shard of glass, yet when someone pulls out a gun with someone in a headlock, and then shoots someone five fucking times point blank range, nothing is done? How did the guy even get into the club with that much ammunition? 7 people were shot, and reports say Dimebag was shot five or six times. That's atleast 12 bullets. Did they have ANY security at this club at all?

I guess I'm just more angry at the fact that there's actually people in this world that would do something like that. I mean, it's one thing to murder a single person, but to murder five people, in front of a club... And, I don't want to make it sound like the others didn't matter... But DIMEBAG DARRELL for fuck's sake!!!

I hope he rests in peace. He will definately be missed among the metal community.

As for the fucker Nathan Gale, I will be there to piss on his grave the second he is in the ground.

BTW, this whole thing is a bit eerie to me also because I just saw Damageplan here in Milwaukee two weeks ago and I actually got to shake the mans hand. And everytime I look at pictures of that night, I just get this really strange feeling.

I second that. I was going to see them a couple months back when DP came throught Tallahassee, but I couldn't make it there. I thought I'd see them in the future. Unfortunately, the last band I said that about was Nirvana and Kurt killed himself a couple months later. I don't have luck with putting off concerts, sigh....

If the rumors of that asswipe killing Dimebag because he "broke up Pantera" are true, that shitface killed the wrong guy. He should have gone after Phil. That's like killing Slash for breaking up Guns N Roses.

That deftones6 should be beat to death by a rubber dildo (thank you Mr. Carlin).

This is with-out-a-doubt one of the craziest days of my life. Dimebag influenced all of us in my band. We sat here and listened to all the Pantera albums and of course the new Damageplan CD. If you listen to track 11 on the Damageplan album listen to the lyrics just listen how eeire and crazy they are. I am in awe that this shit would happen and I second the motion that Keith is feeling right now....we are all pissed and Nathan Gale was a piece of pussy shit that went psycho.....I am glad that the cop shot him in the face with a rifle but I would have been happier if they got him alive and let everyone who knew Dimebag would be able to beat him to death but that would even justify what just happened.....My condolences go out to Vinnie and everyone elses family would lost someone Wednesday night.

Dimebag we will miss you.....

No assholes, I have NO clue whoPantera is! oh yeah and what came after Pantera....hmm Superjoint maybe? Good friends and a bottle of pills, maybe one of the best Pantera songs ever. Maybe you've heard of it.Dimebag was a prick. I'm not saying he deserved to die. he was an asshole. I've seen DamagePlan on several occsasions. I'm not saying anything about the music. Pantera, Damageplan, superjoint, etc. I love it all. How could you not. But like I said he was an asshole.Let's be honest, how many of you would be crushed is Axl Rose were shot....yeah that's what I thought. Oh an um...NirvanaNole. Let me know when I can get that rubberdildo out of your mom's ass. You guys can go fuck yourselves.

this is fucking sad. Every musician I know has been influenced by Pantera. Dime was a modern guitar marvel. his riffs were uncompromisably simple yet not just anyone with tabs and a dean v could crack the code that was the dimebag style. He was up there with in the ranks of Zakk Wylde and chuck schuldneger. Some of the few modern guitarist the really knew/know how to play a guitar. It's just sick that some ignorant fuck could do this. well R.I.P Dime.

by the way has anyone found exactly why Nathan shot him?

when i met him he was very nice.it was at a bar and he appeared more than happy to shake my hand and sign a beer coaster for me.he gave me no grief and seemed very friendly.you just keep saying hes an a-hole do you have a reason or do you just like making people upset?many of us are very upset and it seems like jerks like you feel the need to piss us off.not cool.

Oh you're so right. i go online when I have nothing else to do and see if I can ring someone's bell. I'm flattered you think I have enough time for you. I'm wicked excited Dimebag was polite to you, as he should have been. However, that does not mean my opinion of him will change. Do I think he deserved to be offed? Hell no. I'm just saying it's not that shocking. Like I said, I wouldnt be surprised if someone like Axl Rose took one next. Its unfortunate people feel the need to pump rounds into at point blank range, but people are sick, what do you want?

I left it in your dad's mouth. Ask him what he did with it.

"We had the pleasure of touring three times with Pantera," Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham said. "They treated us so well on the road. We had some great times hanging out with them. They treated us with open arms, especially the brothers [Dimebag and his brother, Vinnie Paul]. Darrell lived the music. We feel terrible, and our hearts go out to his family, brother and father. He was a legend in this business, and an unbelievable musician. He will be missed by all."

I wonder what Abe would think of you, Deftones6. He probably wouldn't want you as a fan. You piece of shit.

Lol..You have way too much free time. Like I said. NO IS QUESTIONING Dimebag's talent. That'a a given.

You should learn to read. God, you must be all of 14? I'm sure if Abe along with Chino were to be asked about Dimebag off the record. It may be a little different, it may not.

Am I criticizing you for your lack of intelligence? no. go do your thing. I guess teen angst is still in. Go with that, it works for you.

deftones6 I think the thing is the others just wanted to know why you hated Dimebag so much. From what I'm reading everyone keeps saying how great he was. From the fans that met him to the bands that played with him. Everyone is allowed their own opinion. Everyone is just interested in why you don't like him. Did you meet him and he blew you off? Or is it something else. Everyone has their reasons for why they like or dislike someone or something and thye just want to know your reasoning.

No, it's not that he hates him, it's that someone died and him saying the person who died was an ass is his way of being "cool" and a "rebel".

I met Dimebag Darrell, he was very rude. I brought my stepson, who is 8, to a show. He loved Pantera and is into all the best music. I walked behind him as he approached Dimebag for an autograph, he refused. I still do this day don't know why. That's pretty fucked up. Did he deserved to die? Hell no, that was just down right wrong. Dimebag was a legend, who could ever forget that. It's just a shame he couldn't treat my stepson better.

Thank you for explaining that...While I can certainly see your point, you can't really judge the personality of a person throughout their entire life, by one incident...Perhaps he was having a bad day...Dealing with personal problems...Maybe even a headache...Who knows?...The point is...Even the best people can do the shittiest things at times, that doesn't mean that they are shitty people.......The vast majority have witnessed another side of him...I believe that it probably makes more sense to try to determine someone's personaity based on their behavior the MAJORITY of the time, rather than by one bad incident...It just seems more fair that way...We ALL have our 'moments'

*hoping that Voltron feels this*

What happened to your stepson WAS shitty...But, Darrell wasn't

If that was coherent enough to make sense, I would say something (besides this) to that.

As for your stepson, good. In fact, for bothering Dimebag for an autograph, I'm not surprised Dimebag didn't put his size 15 boot in his face. He doesn't have time for everyone. Just because he's a god doesn't mean he has to automatically fall to your every demand.

Besides, the fact you're judging his whole life on one, small, insignificant thing he did is sad. Don't think you're special because your penis kid didn't get an autograph. Gee....I wonder how many others didn't get the chance to get an autograph by him...hmm...maybe millions.

Perhaps he had no time for an 8 year old being there or the person who took him.

What's an 8 year old child doing at a Pantera gig?
It would make me FVCKIN HOSTILE as well.
