does nudity make a horror film better does it make the story line better or is it just there sometimes to take ur eyes off the killer sneaking up behind the two teenagers having sex i belive it can enhance a story line as long as it is tasteful

i think nudity CAN be used tastefully, but for the most part it's not. for example, shannon elizabeth in 13 ghosts when the jackle was tearing the shit out of her clothes. she didn't get naked, but c'mon.. do you really need to see her shirt RIGHT NEAR HER BOOB get torn up, with an extra zoom-in closeup of it? hardly.

oh, perfect, example from the same movie. the one ghost who was naked, that's nudity, but i didn't have a problem with that. that was her character, and she was nude

so just depends on how the director, or whoever, decides to use the nudity

depends on the horror film.
take the teenage sex nudity from a slasher film .... and its half the film it should be ... its sort of an expected standard.

in a good quality atmospheric grade a horror film it's unnecessary unless it is intregral to the story.

BRING ON THE NIBLETS!

(Woo-hoo!)

Well, that question is like asking, Should I put pancake syrup on my pancakes. I dunno. Do you like pancake syrup? Then put some on there. Do you like strawberries? Then put some on there. I usually like my pancakes with whatever. I like my horror films with niblets included. Usually this helps to ensure that the horror film won't get sold on Ebay later on down the line. I'll say, "Well, that film is definitely a piece of crap, but on the other hand, it does have niblets." Ummmm...what was the question again?

Come on......Linnea Quigley dancing around in the cemetary would not have had the same impact if she was wearing clothes.

OK...how about "LifeForce". That movie would have sucked had it not been for Mathilda May's stunning ....um...er....performance.

Agreed.

Perfect example: The Shining.

Perfect example: The Shining. Yeah, but...'Ghost of dead chick in the bathtub', just isn't quite the same as Idle Hands 'boob groping in the car'...Know what I mean?...

Well, Idle Hands doesn't exactly fit under the good quality atmospheric grade a horror film category. :p

Nudity is very rarely integral to the story.

well look at The Hunger ..
erotica is a big part of the movie ..

i hate north american films that handle sex with a vaseline coated lens and people who sit in bed with the covers up to their necks after sex.

I like a bit of realism if they are going to bother with it at all.

anyway. I like nude women.
on film, in magazines .. on my living room floor ....

the more the better ..

or as Shanks said :

Let's not forget the title of this thread:

"nudity is horror films"

Why, there's your Freudian slip right there.

And if we could just REMOVE that little Freudian slip/nighty, we can get down to business, moo hah hah hahhhhh.

No, it doesn't make them better. Actually I think alot of movies would be alot better without nudity...it's usually not necessary.

this certainly has turned into a guy/girl issue.

Guys in general cant get enough nudity. Speaking for myself - i love the way women look and if they are naked .. well even better.

Girls are raised thinking its wrong .. for all kinds of reasons that i wont bother going into.
So its now part of their programming that nudity = bad.

Here's the rub :

I will fully admit that 90% of it used in horror films and certain other genres is gratuitous and exploitative ... yeah .. well so is the violence.
These are exploitation films folks.

What i find odd is that someone can be ripped in half, stuck with a machette like a coctail olive, beheaded, stabbed, etc etc etc .. and thats ok ..

but a bare breast in the shower and all of a sudden its exploitation ?
Gratuitous violence is every much as exploitive as nudity - it just appeals to (i hope) different sensibilities.

sex and violence ... have been in bed together as long as time.
I'm sure that with a bit of study i could tell you some profound psychological reason why ...but i dont have that info right now.

Personally i dont like my sex and violence at the same time ...i find that disturbing.

Horror fans have come to expect nudity in certain types of films withing the genre ... its like knowing there will be swearing in a ganster film.

I wont get into the nudity is natural deal either because it doesnt wash with horror films .. nothing is natural in a horror film ..

but thats why i like european dramas over the american ones .. americans (generalizing here) are so hung up over nudity its childish.
They avoid it at times that are rediculous .. as in the scenes when it would be far more natural to be nude than not.

Bottom line .... whats more disturbing ... gratuitous violence, or the naked female body ?

if you said the violence .. i suggest you see a doctor because your moral code is severely fucking damaged.
