I saw the remake of dotd at the cinema, so when i heard there was a unrated cut i could nt wait to see it. I enjoyed dotd but where was the gore? I was expecting to see limbs getting torn off & eaten & entrails flying across the screen. The unrated cut had nothing no bite scenes & very little extra glop. You can say you don't need gore to make a good horror film. Some of my favourite films Ringu & the Shining don't have any. But in a proper Zombie film the glop has to run in rivers.
Theres only two rules in a Zombie film, the Zombies eat the humans & you have to shoot them in the head to kill them. Why is every Zombie film ignoring rule number 1? I just want to see a film like Lucio or George used to make not skinny bitch super models kick boxing zombies. Does any one else?
I just hope that George gets to make the film he wants & a year or so later i can watch a kickass unrated cut of LOTD.

Gore isn't PC anymore......It might offend someone....There's no room for it in modern cinema, unless it's in a war movie........But you have to balance that out with a ludicrous love underplot......

i peronaly dont like the gore
its kinda like 6 flags. ok all kinds rides, sitting, stnading, legs dangling. some go in circles, some upside down, some swerve
but in the end, its all like the same shit just twirked. once u ride one uve ridden em all
at least to me that place was a bit boring. i prefer disneyland just cuz theres actual scenery and a story to follow in the rides
and is space mountain not KICK ASS like HOLY FUCKIN SHIT IM GONNA GET SUCKED IN BY THE NEBULA!!!!!!
anyway.. thats my take on gore. starts lookin the same after a while. do too much and its no longer shocking.

this is pretty much it ... its the times.
We're in a place in society now where too much is happening in the real world to make gore appealing in the theatres (to most people) unless like you said .. it serves a point to heighten the realism in a serious film.
Gratuitous explicit violence isnt in vogue right now.
Todays news has kind of let the wind out of that sail anyway.
you'll see worse online or on the news than in a horror movie these days.
but dont worry .. i guarentee it will return. all things happen in cycles. One daring filmmaker will eventually do it, and others will follow suit.
We may have to wait for Romero's Land of the Dead ... i cant see him going soft on the gore .. it made him who he is today.

Im not asking for japanese Guinea Pig style glop just a few chomping scenes. Did'nt George walk out on Resident Evil because he could see they were trying to make a kids film? Unfortunatly its the suits that rule Hollywood the soulless bastards.

Entertainment isn't entertainment anymore....at least not in the classic sense......We are told to be entertained by what will make the big-wigs the most money......For example, "Reality" TV......I can stand it, but there's MILLIONS of people who do.........What's sad is you can watch some idiot on fear factor eat a pigs ass, but you can't show simulated gore/violence......It's a sad time that we live in.....People said the 80's sucked, but damn, there was some cool entertainment.....and it wasn't the music :D

Actually Flock of Seagulls is rad! There's actually a lot of 80's music that isn't too bad, but man, for the most part, Not a good time for musicians......It's not like it was in the 60's where you could just blame it on good drugs.....

it was what it was ... sterile keyboard heavy music.
like you said .. some was catchy but in retrospect the 70's arent looking that bad now :)

ROTLD Pt. 2
I think the ROTLD series is great....Haven't seen past part 3, but it exemplifies what Zombies are to me.......

part one was sheer brilliance (clu gallager was unbelievably funny) but although i have 2 and 3 somewhere i didnt like them...
they didnt even attempt the cleverness that was in the 1st one ..

Very True.....Although the classics such as NOTLD and DOTD are great, there's something far more frightening about a zombie that can actually catch you, rather than jerking and lumbering your way....

That's what made this movie classic to me.....Not only is it a great horror movie, with a good plot and gore, but it's also hilarious! I love when the zombies attack the ambulance drivers....Send... more... paramedics.

Old Skool Zombies really arent what you're thinking of at all. Old school zombies arent nessecarily cannibals, they're people (Possibly dead, not required) Under the spell of an evil wizard, forced to do his/her bidding. So there!

i like the old and new zombies, cause since they aren't real. i think it doesnt matter how they are portrayed.

Burt Wilson: I thought you said that if we destroyed the brain, it would die.
Frank: It worked in the movie.
Burt Wilson: Well it ain't working now Frank.
Freddy: You mean the movie lied?
The underlying love story is great too!
Freddy: But I don't care darling, because I love you, and you've got to let me eat your brains.
