"The Polar Express" was knocked down by "The Incredibles," which is a bummer, because I hear it's very scary and creepy, and I would like to see it. It would be nice if they had released it a week or two AFTER "Incredibles" opened. Pixar is not a company to be messed with!...

But onto the substance of the topic--as we know, it is wintertime, because our little toes are freezing off and the floor feels like some kinda ice cube. It is at this time of the year that many pull their favorite ratty old VHS tapes off the shelf for another go-round. A nice cup of hot tea and a slice of pie make this holiday tradition complete. Many Christmas TV specials, expecially those produced by Rankin Bass, have creepy elements like monsters. This seems to tie into the tradition of telling ghost stories around the fire at Christmastime. We all like a good creep, especially when we feel that winter chill. What are YOUR favorite creepy holiday shows?

Well, I'm not too fond of xmas myself...but I actually looove CGI, etc.

But is it like a sappy family movie? I mean, I'm sure I could appreciate it. But I'm just trying to get a feel for what it's like.

I'll take your word for it urge. I usually use Rotten Tomatoes as at least some sort of guide. It actually got mixed reviews. But, we all know critics suck ass.

it wasnt as sappy as i thought it would be..

i dont know how to put it .. it did have a big warm fuzzy feeling but somehow it got it across without the sugar.
Either that or I was too blown away by the visuals to notice.

It had a lot of class .. i guess thats the best way to put it ..

not bothered about watching creepy stuff, but

One of my christmas present to myself is the The Ultimate Matrix Collection (10 Discs) It's on pre-order and is due to reach me by the beginning of December, and if no one wants to watch it with me....I shall be attempting to watch the whole lot back-to-back plus all the extras, sometime over the holiday period. I shall make sure beer and snacks will be readily available.

:)

The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?

The Matrix is a system. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Hey ShankS...you gotta lay off those Matrix pills. I'm only sayin' this because I care.

Now, nobody mentioned "SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS," which, when I think about it, is one of the scariest Christmas shows of all! And maybe that's why no one mentioned it.

2 Rankin/Bass specials off the top of my head that, more than a little, delve into the pagan origins of the Chistmastime celebration are Jack Frost and Santa Claus is Coming to Town (the story of Santa Claus).

NIGHTMARE BEFORE CRISTMAS

oh and this is kindof along the same lines

that song 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town'

for some reason hearing people sing about a fat man in a red suit watching me when im sleeping kind of freaks me out.
