Well folks, I am officially an "Aspiring Writer". Why and Apsiring wirter, rather than a writer? I got a reply to my first story submission.

It was a rejection letter from Sci-Fi.com. Unfortunately, Father Dillon's Funeral will not be gracing that site anytime soon. But, it may somewhere else. And i suppose that a science fiction story would have been more approriate than a zombie ohrror story, but hey, i tried.

Maybe i will ahve more luck next time.

Oddly, it didnt really bother me all that much.

well, you cant ever expect a 1st effort to get picked up.
Its a bitch getting someone to even look at your work. You usually need representation ..
Even on the lowest rung of the ladder you need an agent.
I have a friend who tried to get a Hockey book published and no one would even look at the guy - they want to deal with middlemen - to filter out the yahoos first.
In the same way big companies would rather deal with headhunters than a free for all hiring ...

Have you looked into any books on the publishing process ?

Tough break Vod. Something will happen....I can feel it.......there is a light at the end of the tunnel, all things come to those that wait, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink, the checks in the mail. I wont c*^% in your mouth..........sorry...got carried away with the cliches.

It is an excellent story though, so keep trying. BTW...any HL2 reviews coming.

Well, at least you put forth the effort.....At least you got a rejection letter...

Reminds me of the time my band got a rejection letter from a record company...We were pumped because we knew they actually looked at/listened to our stuff....Unlike all the others......

Thank you, and yes there will be. I think i willbe doing it sort of blog-fashion.

The fortunate thing is that, for starters at least, i am trying tio get published in magazines and sitres that will take just anyone off the street as long as they are good. Once i have one or two of those, i will hit the bigger guys. Baby-steps :)

sorry to hear of the disapointment, but it looks like you've made sensible plans as to where you want your writing to go.... so good on ya dude. Hope a publisher takes notice.
