View Full Version : Goblins in the fireplace - early/mid 70's, made for TV?

This is my second of two 'movie buff' inquiries...
Searching for the title of a movie I have seen TWICE as a young teenager (which explains my lack of recall, ahem...).
A family (husband/wife) move in to a house and she starts having suspicions about the family/red room downstairs because strange things are happening...
yadda yadda.
In the end she is dragged by these hysterical little creatures in to the fireplace.
It was so bad it was good!
Any guesses as to what this movie was?

BTW, Horror, thank you for your imput...it was an earlier release pre-dating TROLLS (the clothing was definitely 70's) but your pronouncement still rings true. ;)

I have been wondering a long time about a movie I saw as a kid on TV that had something to do with a "Red Room" and the dread that that room inspired. But I definitely do not remember any goblins being involved. The main things I remember is that (I think) someone gets killed with a pizza cutter and there was something about a girl dying in a car fire. Whatever that movie was, it scared the crap out of me.

how the hell do you kill someone with a pizza cutter .. you can barely cut pizza with one ..
this has to be italian .. they love gimmicky implements.
There is another .. something about Moon in the title .. where the killer uses one of those little retractable utility knives, with the sections that you break off when it gets dull.. and the only reason they used that knife was for the click click clicking sound it made when the killer slid the blade in and out .. just for effect.
I'm still waiting for a movie with a killer armed with an icecream scoop.

LOL some one asks the don't be afraid of the dark question at least once a month!
… So I would say it’s not a bad movie at all, in fact for a TV movie its very good, how many TV movies stick in people’s minds like that!
... Phychomania has a forbidden room; don’t know if that’s the movie you’re talking about!

so is that the movie I'm talking about? "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark"??? The scene with the pizza cutter that I remember was that someone was walking down some stairs and rolling the pizza cutter (bloody, of course) down the bannister. And there was a Red Room. And some girl couldn't get her seatbelt undone and she got burned to death in a car fire and came back (I think) and killed her family.
