This was our english journal topic today, and it got some gears moving in my head, so I decided to post it here.
Have you ever had a instance where because you did/didnt do something you usually do/never do, the concequences have been interesting? I really cant put it in words very well, so heres an example:
Last summer, I was hanging out with my friends. We were right bored, so we walked down to blockbuster to get a movie. After arguing for probably 20 min. over what movie to get, we agreed that Id close my eyes, go to a random shelf, grab a random movie, and no matter how shitty it sounded, thats what we'd get.
So, we got home about 5 min. later....and we werent insinde for 2 minutes when a car plowed into our porch, where we were standing moments before! Well, the movie was shit [Malibu's Most Wanted, we all thought it sucked], and if we stayed at Blockbuster for another 2 minutes to get a decent movie....We would be seriously hurt, If not killed.
Any similar stories?

there was this time .... at band camp ... when we were all about to get on the Titanic ... and then ... one of us had to take a leak ...
and we all got off ...
but now we're all being killed off mysteriously - one by one by an unseen force ...
oh yeah .. its called old age ..

Not quite to the point of being life or death.
But there were a few instances that I was thinking of partaking in illegal activity with my friends, chose not to because of whatever and they ended up getting arrested or something.
Back in grade six I was in scouts, and every march our group had this thing called Pizza camp. Where we went to this cabin thing out in the middle of no where and had this one night where we made pizza with whatever we wanted on it.
Anyway, I had waited the entire year for it, I was pumped like a huge cock and ready to go. So the night we were leaving I had all my shit packed, put on my stuff to go out the door and this feeling came over me, and I completely lost interest in going, I just didn't want to go.
My parents were a bit mad since they had paid for it and stuff, but I said it all with such conviction they listened.
Anyway, Monday rolls around and go to talk to my buddies about it and how it was. About 17-20 peopel went on the trip, every single person in that entire cabin was throwing up and falling seriously ill that Saturday. Every single last one of them threw up, some were so bad they had to call their parents to take the kids to the hospital.
It never hit me until I got home that I had averted it by going on gut instinct.

actually .. this is kind of creepy ..
I have a sister in 'the biz' and before she started to do grip, then 2nd AD work she was doing underwater filming for Aqua Planet.
Each show the crew went somewhere in the world and did a scuba feature in that country.
So she was set to do a show in the philipines when the show was cancelled or pushed back ..
Either way the plane that the crew had tickets for crashed and killed everyone on board.
This was 4 or 5 years ago .. i'm sure the info is online somewhere.
I'll have to ask her if she still has the ticket ..
happens a lot in the car where if i were driving any slower or faster, had left any earlier/later... somebody woulda hit me

Oh I know, I would just get worse.
There was a book written on Gut Instinct that I've heard is good. It talked about what it is, why we get it, and the concept of our bodies knowing something in advance. The name escapes me now, Something like "The Science of Fear" or "The Anatomy of Fear" or something similar.

"Decent movies from Blockbuster?"
Surely not!
