No, I'm not referring to the ppl that are in here even more than me....just the animals of us posters...
I KNOW it's been done, but hey, the place is in a bit of a slump thread-wise lately, and we have a few new members of late, so I hereby officially ressurect the topic.
Besides, I got a new family member that I wanna introduce y'all to...I'll post a few old pics, then the new ones....

Talk about your pets, or post pics, or both...whatever's good.
HERE'S MINE:

Cheeba V2.0

^THAT^ is my female rat, shoogybaby...had this one since birth, daughter of Shoogy Snr (RIP)

THIS is my great ol' dog Loki...my mother found him at the university she works at, his paws cut as though he'd waled for miles...she took him to a local pound, they failed to find the owner, so we got him. I've had him for about 8 years now, one of my best friends on this earth.

Cheeba V2.0

Dusk & Phantom...they're cats...I don't much like cats.
But I guess these two have been a part of my life for a few years each, and have kinda grown on me.

Cheeba V2.0
11-13-2004, 04:47 PM
Hera, the female ferret...this one is a complete bitch...for SO many reasons. She remains only to serve as a companion animal to the male...

Cheeba V2.0
11-13-2004, 04:49 PM
The mighty Zeus, my male ferret....VERY big boy - pretty much cat sized. Excellent personality, quite bright, and never EVER bites.
Snapped here about do steal from my cup, as per usual...but it's hard not to let him - lookit his face!

Cheeba V2.0
11-13-2004, 04:56 PM
Ok, so...as I said there's been an addition...the ferrets picturesd above bred, and about a week and a half ago the jill gave birth to a litter of four kits.
For reasons unknown, she chose not to take care of her little ones, and 3 out of four unfortunately died before their first two days of life. (RIP)...So, I did the only thing I figured would keep the remaining one alive, I've been "nursing" it myself....feeding it initially cows milk, then a lactose free milk substitute for kittens through a lil' dropper...so, signs point to it being a boy - he's about a week and a half old now, getting stronger all the time. It's amazing how the lil' guy and me have bonded, he already recognises me by temp/scent, as he cries for me, and won't quiet down 'til I pick him up...I just cannot wait til his eyes open so we can officially "meet", I just know this lil' guy and me are gonna be real close...he's content to just fall asleep in my closed fist, his little head sticking out the top.
I'm afraid the pics aren't greatly detailed, he's still very small, and I have a shitty cam...I've taken a few snaps just to show his size and shape. - but trust me, he's plenty cute, just like a tiny puppy.
Will post more as he grows up, I'll take the next pics when his eyes are open...

HAHAHAHHAHA! Those dogs are soooo friggin' cute.

Well, right now I have six cats. I found a mother cat underneath my porch...then a few weeks later she had 5 kittens. I HAD to take them in. I will have pics soon. I am only keeping the mother, and I named her Banshee.

I guess they're just like people .. the small man or 'napoleon syndrome'

We had a poodle whan i was a kid .. hated that god damn dog ... but it would take on anything ...
It got its ribs busted by a big dalmation .. it was chained up in its own yard minding its own business when this little shit of a rat bastard poodle of ours attacks it ..on its own turf ..
Stupid poodle was lucky the dog didnt murder him..
Probably felt sorry for it.

I work with people like that .. they'd all be dead if there wasnt a law against it.

I dont have any pics of MJ, our beagle yet (only had her a few weeks so far)

but here are our other girls:

My Ripley:

http://scaredyet.net/pics/ripley.jpg

Bree's Pippin:
http://scaredyet.net/pics/pippin.jpg

Snowball (grey/white), onyx(black) and Ridley(brown):
http://scaredyet.net/pics/girls2.jpg

the mouse girls again:
http://scaredyet.net/pics/girls1.jpg

Ridley is a spitting image of the mouse in Mouse Hunt. She is also the freindliest animal on earth that is smaller than an egg. Snowball is the "mom" of the bunch. She takes care of the others, and even nursed the late mouse "Marilyn" when she got sick, just before she died. it was very cute. Onyx is a little bitch, and like many little bitches, is tolerated because she is cute.

Ripley is a spaz, but a very good rat. Pippin scares easily, but is a good girl. She shows affection by mouthing, though, and rats have SHARP teeth...

Mary Jane is shown, but she is a great little beagle. pics when available.

The little guy didn't make it after all.
This is alltogether fucked up - I really thought I could save him, I did all I could...It's funny how close I got to him within such a small amount of time...I did everything right, I so badly wanted him to be an ongoing part of my life.
I'll do my best to remember the time I had with him and be happy that we got that much, but I am so fucking disillusioned right now.

R.I.P Chosen - You always had a friend.

I'm sorry all, please go on.

you're assuming he's well enough equipped to scare even the smallest barnyard creature.

If the virility of the posts is anything to judge by, even the baby mice are safe !

dont underestimate HPW .... if he gets full view of animal flesh there's some sort of 'hulk' like instinct that cant hold him back.

Yeah, his eyes are wicked. I believe that's the huskie in him. He's part huskie, part german shepherd, and part yellow labrador.

So he's got the huskie eyes (and whiny whimper), the german shepherd color scheme, and the short hair of the lab. He's about 4 monthes right now and finally starting to get housebroken. (Yes!)

Does anyone give their dog or cats bottled water? The water here I won't even drink i'm just weird like that. But I buy a case of 24 bottled water a week and give my dog about 3 bottles a day and my fiance makes fun of me and says i'm stupid. I was wondering if anyone else did this ?

I have thought about giving our cats bottled, but the way that phantom drinks water it could turn out to be pretty expensive. We usually fill the water bowl a few times a day.

Since you brought that up, do you guys make your own food for your animals. We found that by making there own food ( rice/pasta , roo, frozen vege, and any other bits you would like to add to it ) we always had more then enough food to feed them all for 2 weeks, but also saved money.
I dont know what the hell is in the soft wet cat food. We still buy them the crunchy cause there indoor cats and theres a special formula for them.
But they dig the food which is always good. Phantom always come crying for more haha. Such a piggy cat but sooo skinny.

I've never made food for them. Maybe I should have they're so damn picky!!

I never thought about making there own food. But I did consider what crap was in the wet food. It didn't look anything like the description.
And our cats are pretty picky. We can't give them fish, they just wont eat it and when they do it usually makes them throw up.
They eat almost everything, ( even hot currys haha ) but when it comes to fish there stomachs can't handle it.

I had a little black cat once and I used to take some dry food and moisten it slightly and then add a little bit of chopped cooked chicken; I would microwave that and then let it cool down. He seemed to like it okay, more than just the regular dry food, anyway.

I give Wolfgang bottled water as well.People make fun of me too,I don't care. The water here is poison.
I would make Wolfie his food, but he only likes a certain brand and only certain flavors of said brand....and he would starve if I tried anything else.
But the good news is,he likes the brand with no 'by-products'.
That's the one problem I have with most animal food....those by-products can lead to some severe health problems later on in life.

The cat I grew up with lost her teeth and developed breast cancer.
She never went outside,so was never exposed to any pesticides-I believe it was her food with all those BY PRODUCTS(ie,the stuff they throw away after they package meat for human consumption-think about it,the INTESTINES with waste still IN IT,ground up in your animals food! ick factor=10)

I wasn't able to afford to get an autopsy on Kitty to find out,but I felt like that may have been the cause after all the info I got on by- products.
The cancer rate has gone up exponetionally in the last 10 years.
Most animal care givers are saying it's the pesticides.
But I have a problem with that one, seeing as how MOST Pest companies DO NOT carry anything that has been shown to cause any damage to animals, apparently their lil systems can detox the little bit that IS hazardous out of their bodies before it becomes dangerous.
I don't know if this is true either, considering DEET was horrible 5 years ago and you weren't SUPPOSE to use it,now it's in everything again. *shrugs*

~regarding the kitty eating habbits :)...I've only had Soraya living with me for a week today, so I'm still learning what she likes and doesn't, but the past few days she's been eating with me. I don't cook food just for her, but if I'm eating something I find suitable for a kitty, she gets it too. Like last night we had fish, she loved it. Tonight I'm having flautas, so she just gets bits of chicken out of it, and her "indoor cat chow", which she seems to like...she sure does eat enough of it (fat kitty)..she LOVES cheese, and she gets a saucer of milk about every other day...so I think she's all good food wise.
About the water thing...she just gets plain ol tap water. I grew up on it, so has she...and I actually think our water here tastes great, so no expensive bottle shit. That stuff tastes the same as tap water to me, I think people are just brainwashed into thinking it's more "pure"...what's next, is everyone gonna stock up to bathe in the shit?

1. Be careful with the milk - when she becomes an adult don't give it to her anymore as it can cause worms in adult cats.

2. I don't buy expensive bottled water. Just spring water. Tastes better than the crap around here.

We have to buy bottled water and since it is the most popular brand here,Aquafina is goodly priced.

As far as your kitty's diet, Taurine is a must (it is for the health of the eyes)
This is the one ingredient that my vet says is essential if you decide to Make your cat's food.

I am glad to hear you are enjoying your new cat:)

@TM and Novakru...Do "they" not filter your water? I know water just tastes like shit some places around here, and I can't figure out why it's so different if it's filtered properly. There's a town about 80 miles from St. Louis called Elsberry, and their water tastes TERRIBLE! It's like it has sulphur in it I think, because when you drink it you can taste it, and when you shower it smells terrible (you know, that "rotting egg" smell you get after lighting fireworks)...so if you got something like that going on I can see why you need bottled water, and bagged ice. If MY water was like that I'd just move, it's really discusting. But here, it's all good for me, tastes like nothing but pure refreshment.

Why does milk cause worms in adult cats? Soraya is a little under 2, so she isn't a kitten anymore...should I really stop giving it to her? What about cheese? is it ALL dairy foods she shouldn't have? I've always given my cats milk in the past, they never got worms.

And thanks Novakru, she is really cool to have around....She's WAY too sweet.

I do not trust my tap water because of 2 reasons:
1.)It has a metallic taste.
2.)My skin itches and feels dry after a shower or bath(not a good sign of high water quality)

I don't know the cause, it's something I've read in many cat magazines and in the books I had when I was taking a Veterinary Assistant course. The books never said anything about other dairy products, just milk.

Alright a quick story about my cat. This cat is old, really old and she survives everything including being trapped in an unused chimney for over a week without food. Anyway, took my cat to the vet and when we hadn't heard back in a few weeks we got worried and called. Well, it ended up that the vet had tripped over a cat and fallen down his stairs... bad news. The doctor came back and informed me that he couldn't find my cat and she must have escaped. Great. Well, three months go by and we get a call, seems the cat the vet tripped over and had been feeding for three months as his was my cat and he had forgotten because of the fall. I got my cat back and a few months later the vet died of an aneurism or a tumor I forget which and the doctors say it may have been brought on by the fall. So... in theory and in my twisted thoughts my cat killed her vet.

Nope they're HIS ears. Schnauzer ears are supposed to flop (Sophie, my black schnauzer's ears flop) and most people have their ears docked, which we didn't wanna do. (Not a big fan of cosmetic surgery on pets). Anyway, Griffin's ears just sort of stand straight up.

My mum's really sensitive on the subject. She's sort a disapointed that his ears stand up, but I think it's precious.

Its a shame you cant take one of ours, Im more of a dog person and three cats is too many for me. The missus would be mortified though! :)

This is Rafa, one of our two terrapins. The other one, Benitez, is really shy so dont have any pics of that one.

They're great. Not very interactive animals but I love the markings on young Rafa there, and the ever alusive Benitez is even more striking. The only problem is the live food they eat which is crickets or grubs, not nice at all.

When we get a new kitty I'll post pics. It won't be until the beginning of May. The babies are two days old.
