I think your spelling sucks...can't we talk about things in a more adult way? *ahem* I think that you guys going on a rant to say how much you *hate*(oooooh*shivers* ) a band that quite a few people love is just a little immature, I mean a thread about bands you don't like is alright, everyone does that but to go out of your way to pick on one band is just lame, like the threads about Evanescence:rolleyes:
and for anyone who cares.....GC has never (well maybe Benji has hinted at it before) actualy SAID they were a "Hard core punk band"(it's usualy fans that say that crap) they have admitted they are more like Pop rock....they dress the way they want to, and their new album is pretty dark, I love it...esp. this song called "the Truth" it sounds very deep, it's something you would expect from an old classic singer...it's beautiful...also "Ghost Of You" the lyrics are awesome...*looks for lyrics*
"Ghost Of You"
I will wait until the end
When the pendulum will swing back
to the darker side of our hearts bleeding
I will save this empty space
next to me like its a grave
where I lay a place for us to sleep eternally together
I have been
Searching for
Traces of
What we were
A ghost of you
is all that I have left
is all that I have left of you to hold
I wake in the night to find there's no one there but me
and nothing left of what we were at all
So here I am pacing around this house again
With pictures of us living on these walls
I see my breath in the cold of the air that I breathe and I'm
wondering I'm wondering if its you that i feel if its you that i feel
haunting me forever
I have been
Searching for
Traces of
What we were
A ghost of you
is all that I have left
is all that I have left of you to hold
I wake in the night to find there's no one there but me
and nothing left of what we were at all
and I'm not looking for
anything but us
anything but what we were
and I'm not asking for
painted memories
I only want to know you're here
A ghost of you
is all that I have left
is all that I have left of you to hold
I wake in the night to find theres no one there but me
and nothing left of what we were at all
A ghost of you
is all that I have left
is all that I have left of you to hold
I wake in the night to find theres no one there but me
and nothing left of what we were at all.

Good Charlotte is pop music, disguised as rock or punk or what have you....its made to sell, and that is all....in large numbers...and it does....its purposely as catchy as possible with those lovely nasal lyrics we all love curtesy of Blink 182 and all our favorite emo pop....
The attitude, music, and purpose of good charlotte, sum 41, blink 182, afi, etc. etc. is so far from real rock and roll it's sickening.....its made by corporate giants that sit in ivory towers, strait down the pipeline to all the pop driven youth, and the MTV crowd....
Wicked lady's post is the proof...if she thinks these guys are dressing that way because "they want to" and not because of a marketing executive in charge of good charlottes image and promotion, she just doesn't know how the industry works...
Believe me, when your in the business of selling MILLIONS of records, the record company that OWNS you, will leave nothing to chance.....EVERYTHING is calculated out, to sell more records.....to not see that is niave...

Some of my favorite bands are local bands that will never go anywhere(or have already disbanded:( ).
As far as "successful", my favorite band Reverend Horton Heat has never even had a gold album(due to lack of marketing by a major label) but sell-out most of thier shows and have a big cult following.I like a band like this that works for its success instead of relying on MTV to hand it to them.I feel they have more passion for the music.

LOL-Not to take sides in this debate, but I did actually ask Hot Topics about ordering some RHH t-shirts.They told me they had tried in the past(when RHH almost broke the "big time", thank god they didn't) and they couldn't sell them, therefore they could not order any in!I almost shit myself laughing when they told me this.If its not cool, Hot Topics just can't get it!

I have to point out there was a time in the 90's when you couldn't turn on MTV without seeing one of Trents videos.

soooo....I guess you expect to get somewhere in you career by having FREE concerts? No matter what you do as a musician you have to feed on the money of your fans or you won't get ANYWHERE, and what about the price it will cost for people to buy your albums? would you rather they download them off the internet?
If you want to make this about money, face it, the world is ran by money and by the people that have that money.
so...you are ALWAYS selling yourself in the music industry, in the movie industry, or even at Wal*Mart, it just matters about who feels like paying for you.

But my theory is....if it sounds good i like it. I dont care if their on MTV, VH1, BET, Fuse, or on a local radio station.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Arioch, I don't wanna get you mad at me, but just one thought.
Just because YOU don't like Good Charlotte, Sum 41 or Blink 182 it doesn't actually mean they are bad at making music, or that they don't have FEELINGS.
I have the feeling you would be saying something similar to what Wicked Lady is saying if she didn't like a band you like for similar reasons.

Its not so much i dont allow people to like what they like, im all about that....
My problem lies within the people who CANNOT stray outside the majority, will NOT support local music, and deny themselves the ability to like anything not on MTV....
And despite popular opinion their is a HUGE range of success between MTV and "Free concerts" that was spoken just like someone whose never been to a local show in her LIFE....
I will always support local and independant (that means a NON big label support band, i know youve never heard that word WL:rolleyes: ) over shit that has huge label support, even bands i like, like NIN, and others....
Im not saying its wrong to like big label bands, they got their for a reason, im saying its wrong to ONLY THINK THEY ARE THE ONLY MUSIC OUT THERE....but some of us are more sheltered than others....
And for the record, i dont own a single NIN shirt, my brother does tho *shrug*

And for the record, there is a SUBSTANTIAL difference in doing something different musically, and changing the genre...
Like Tool, Like Trent, Like Nirvana, shit that breaks open new streams of music, and they get huge support and fans for it....
And in contrast...
Sum 41, Dashboard Confessions, Stained, Creed, and shit that rehashes old chords and tired melodies with NO unique sound, nothing UNIQUE to offer at all, except a new pretty face and a new catchy hit song....
Some deserve recoginition, and the amount they have been around (for example tool and Trent first albums hit in 1991 and are ONLY GETTING BIGGER) versers these other bands that have NO staying power and have poped up in the last 5 years.....we will see exactly who remembers Good Charlotte for their REVOLUTIONARY NEW SOUND:rolleyes:

I sold out long before you ever heard my name

And you bought one
All you read and
Wear or see and
Hear on TV
Is a product
Begging for your
Fatass dirty
Dollar
So...Shut up and
Buy my new record
Send more money
Fuck you, buddy"
Pretty relevant...written by one of your hugely successfull top 40 bands...

I bet you haven't because they are a LOCAL band here in KY he almost crapped himself recently when he saw them in Guitar World after being a fan for four years...oh, speaking of bands he's been into for four years, Finger Eleven has had 4 albums in total and ONE video on MTV from their newest.
I'm not looking for a "revolutionary sound" I highly doubt anyone is anymore, I'm just looking for music I like:D
BTW...Mest has been around for about 10 years now and had at least 5 albums...so, would you still call that "just starting out?"

Besides...She isn't into massive crowds anyway Heresay?...NEWS is seldom considered 'heresay'...Remember a certain WHO concert?...Among others...I will admit that the MAJOR incidents may be few and far between...BUT...I figure that if there is one chance in a million of something bad happening to my kids, that's a chance that I'm not willing to take :)

Remember a certain WHO concert?.
You mean the one where the guitarist swung his guitar above his head by the guitar chord which then promptly let go and the guitar flew into the audiance? That incident?

THIS incident...
The Who began touring later in 1979, but the tour's momentum was crushed when 11 attendees at the group's December 3, 1979 concert at Cincinnati's Riverfront Coliseum were trampled to death in a rush for choice festival seating. The band wasn't informed of the incident until after the concert was finished, and the tragedy deflated whatever goodwill they had.
Following the Cincinnati concert, the Who slowly fell apart. Townshend became addicted to cocaine, heroin, tranquilizers and alcohol, suffering a near-fatal overdose in 1981.
There are MANY more examples of this type of incident...
Dec. 19, 1987, Nashville, Tenn.: Two teens killed in the crush of a crowd departing from a Public Enemy concert.
Jan. 18, 1991, Salt Lake City: Three teenagers killed when the crowd at an AC-DC concert rushed the stage.
Dec. 28, 1991, New York: Eight suffocated in pileup of people trying to get into City College of New York gymnasium for charity basketball game played by rappers.
July 1, 2000, Copenhagen, Denmark: Eight killed in crush of fans trying to get closer to Pearl Jam at an outdoor concert.
And the list goes on...
Along with multiple reports of fights, stabbings, rapes, etcetera...
It just isn't somewhere that I want my kids to be...That's pretty much all there is to it...So, can we end this now?:)
