If you don't have HBO, you probably haven't seen the new HBO series "Carnivale". Luckily, I'm not you. I do have HBO and I have not missed an episode.

The synopsis is interesting and goes as such: Every generation, two people are born; one being of good and the other being of evil. They may not know of each other, but it is within their destiny to seek out and destory each other. generations have passed, and religion has taken over, so this battle between good and evil goes unseen for the most part.

Carnivale details two stories; one being of an runaway outlaw that joins a traveling carnival as a sidehand. Slowly but surely, he discovers that he has the power to heal, though each time he heals someone/thing, other living things around him are harmed or killed. The second story revolves around a preacher who has visions from "god". These visions have sent him on a path that will lead him somewhere, but where he does not know. Those around this preacher are effected in different ways...some good and some bad.

The outlaw carnival worker and the preacher have never met, but have nightmares including each other. They both have reoccurring dreams of times in the past that they did not live and they both are confused why. The outlaw struggles with the help of the Carnival to understand his strange power. The preacher asks god. One is good, and one is evil. Which is which is not revealed.

If it sounds confusing, it is. So far, this show remains confusing but entertaining. I can't take my eyes away, although I find myself needing more information by the end of the show. So although I like the show and continue to watch, I am still waiting for something to wow me.

So did it end up wowing you? Sure as hell did me.

Don't know why all the critics hate this show so much, I think it is brilliant. I haven't seen a show so subtle yet scary since the X-Files, and Carnivale definately has that beat. To my understanding, Carnivale has a story planned....X-Files just made up stuff as it went along.

I even got my parents into it, and the shows they usually watch are Walker Texas Ranger and Touched By an Angel! Now they are complaining they have to wait a whole year for the next season, and that the DVD for this season isn't out yet.
