If so...do you REALLY feel like any less of a jackass now?
Judging by that last post, you shouldn't...

as posted above I posted about saw about 2 months ago. BTW if u wanna see some really good trailers, go buy the punisher, not rent, u ahve to buy it, it comes with 2 trailers, and this awesome clip. the first trailer is the one with the jaw contraption, the 2nd about the guy trying to climb through razor wires in order to live. then the clip is danny glover and his partner going to jigsaws pad, and finding a guy strapped to a chair with 2 drills coming closer and closer to his neck, its awesome

It came out last friday, just got home from seeing it - I christened it '8' as it's um, like se7en and then some :D
Some nice gory bits, highly inventive stuff and a killer twist - the whole film is kinda dirty and grimy too - a la se7en.
HIGHLY recommended

Seems like there's alot of new horror movies that've reciently come out this year, more than usual. But I think this one will be one of the best out of all of them! Something I'll be able to watch multiple times, and realize something new each time. (love movies like that!)

I have to wait till the 29th when it comes out nationwide, cuz there arn't any screenings.
BTW, about the knife that comes out of his wrist. I think there is a scene where the cops catch him and the knife comes out and he cuts their throats. Saw it on the SAWmovie.com website.
Anyway this movie looks kickass. Lions Gate is the king of Horror. I bow to them.

Saw looks brutally badass! Can't wait to see it.
As for all 3 Matrix movies kicking ass, someone slap whoever said that for me. The first one was an original movie with inventive direction and great action. The 2nd and 3rd were pure crap. They should have done the first one and left it at that because in my opinion, they completely ruined the series.
Reloaded only ruined Morpheus.
Revolutions ruined the entire franchise.
:(
It pisses me off too because until I saw Reloaded, The Matrix was one of my top 5 movies.

You can drive down to Florida and slap me if you dare, but I wouldn't suggest it. However, getting a brain and rewatching the last two Matrix movies may be a better idea. I'm sure you'd realize you missed a thing or two prior to getting a brain. ;)

First things first....The Matrix series was phenominal....The perfect trilogy (my opinion)....As far as "Saw" is concerned.....I agree it might be the scariest movie made in quite some time.....this is by far, for me the most anticipated horror flick made in the last year or so. Lions Gate is probably the king of the hill when it comes to horror movies. They have had some doozies in this genre and seems like they are on a roll to keep that title. I have read that they are coming out with five horror movies next year---an unheard of feat in the movie industry.

I can't see where anyone has written what they through of Saw? I thought it was great! I'm easily scared but it was well scary!
I thought it was a little like Seven but it was really clever I thought! You'd never guess who the killer was... although I did think that (I can't remember his name) the guy from Robin Hood Men in Tights shouldn't have been cast in that part his acting through some of it was laughable. In fact me and my friend left the cinema laughing at the last few words his said before the end of the film (I won't give it away in case people haven't seen it).
I'm sorry if someone has already post this somewhere else, please don't swear at me! I'm sensitive!

I just got back from seeing Saw and I was impressed.
**SPOILERS**
The movie starts with Adam played by Leigh Whannell waking up in a dirty disgusting bath tub. He is in the dark and not aware of where he is. Then the lights come on and he is all of a sudden in a disgustingly dirty bathroom with someone else. The man he is with is Doctor Lawrence Gordon played by Cary Elwes. The are both chained to pipes and not aware of how they got there.
The film goes indepth of a killer named Jigsaw. He makes people kill eachother because they are hateful of their pretty decent lives. After clues are found the two men try to figure everything out. The do flash backs of other characters like Detective David Tapp played by the man himself Danny Glover and Dr. Gordon's wife Alison played by Monica Potter.
This film is pretty wacked on a few levels....Not alot of blood but some sweet scenes of someone getting their guts rippped out and someone sawing their own foot off. Also a nice throat slash. The greatest invention ever by the way is the reverse bear trap lol. Overall the acting is kind of dull. Cary Elwes is kind of a cry baby and Leigh Whannell needs some lessons. Danny Glover did a great job as a detective again, reminiscant of 'Lethal Weapon.' All in all this is a great thriller that will keep you guessing over and over. This is film is not like Se7en. Se7en is far supperior but this is a good movie nontheless.
I give it a 3 1/2 skulls out of 5.

hey I liked Donnie Darko! that bunny suit was way cool, i wish i could have died before bad things happened to people i care about because of me (i.e. the engine crashing into donnie bed)... *hopes a jet engine crushes me in my sleep* no, really i heard saw was a good movie, but i presume it is a psychological thriller more than a horror movie. the guy with the axe, gun, or knife doesnn't scare me. i'm just scared that i have been that guy (because i have)

Just saw it (pun intended) and I have to agree with you H_I, it definitely wasn't scary but it was a clever story line. It was slow in some instances but had some good scenes as well. I thought it was a hell of alot more entertaining than Grudge......well that's just my 2 cents worth......:)

Pretty good flick. Of course, it doesn't live up to its advertising...but, what movie does? I mean, they bill it as being the next Se7en or Silence of the Lambs. But, I personally didn't think it was quite disturbing enough to be ranked with those films. Maybe SOTL, but certainly not Se7en.
The first and second acts are great. Different, freaky, weird, creepy, all that good stuff. The third act, however, kinda of falls apart a little bit. I remember sitting in the seat thinking to myself, "Oh no...don't go this way. I really liked you up to now, please don't screw it up with a crappy ending." Luckily, it takes an unexpected turn and rolls into a pretty cool ending. So, that made it all worthwhile.
My only other gripe was Elwes' performance. It's a little weak. He's decent, but there are some parts I found myself rolling my eyes at the acting (or lack there of). He just wasn't a good choice as the leading man. As a supporting role, he's more than adequate. But, he can't carry a movie himself. They should've looked a little harder.
Other than those points, it's a pretty good film and worth a watch. Hell, I'll probably buy the DVD just to see all the "crap" they cut out to get the R rating.
First, ha, seems like every other person on these forums is an asshole. People need to calm the fuck down and just casually talk and have a good time.
Now onto my opinion on Saw:
I wouldn't call the movie "scary" as far as jolts are concerned but I think the word unsettling suits it well. Everything made sense, everything was explained but at the same time not too much was told to ruin the movie. The entire theatre was quiet and enraptured in the movie and only a few giggles were heard towards the end. Excellant considering our audience. They'll laugh at anything to show off in front of their friends.
I will say the killer's character in the movie is fantastic. His "murders" have more creative obligation like qualities rather than artistic and sadistic self gratifying qualities like most killers that make you almost develop a respect for his "work". They were ingenously created and well crafted to get his point across without actually killing anyone himself.
Too tired to go on anymore but I gave this movie an A rating. It's a movie to borrow $8 and call-in to work tonight for.

I saw Saw Saturday evening, and I was quite disappointed. A few of the kill scenes are cool and disturbing, but the acting sucked all around, and the entire plot hinges on the motivation of a particular character (Zep), who makes some choices that nobody would make given his options. In that regards, the plot is quite flimsy ... and what's up with the jigsaw puzzle piece? That looked to have been added at the last second just to give the killer a name ... because they certainly didn't do anything else with it. Still, the film is mildly entertaining, and may stick with you if you don't think about it too much when it's over.

I was wondering that myself. I thought we were gonna see a "flesh puzzle" later on in the film or something. But, no. It was just a useless subplot piece to "freak" us out more.

There will be a sequel so I'm sure more about it will be explained then. I'm sure it's not useless but I agree I didn't fit it in with the rest movie yet.

i forgot about the puzzle piece untill now.....hopefully if they make a sequal they make it with some sort of flesh jigsaw puzzle
ok i have 2 questions
1)the guy that was got burnt to death, what was the deal with him again? (the reason wh he was picked in the first place)
2)had this discussion with gore but i dunno if i can believe him LOL. but Zepf (the male nurse) why was he picked? just cuz he worked closely with Gordon or what? just seemed out of character to just RANDOMLY pick someone, when they didnt have some reason

I don't remember tham giving any reasoning for several of the murders, not just the burn victim. It seems like they just sort of dropped that plot idea halfway through.
While I did enjoy parts of SAW, I think a good half of it was totally extraneous; if you take the first 15 minutes, add the last 10, and chop out everything in between, you'd have a heck of a good short film.

They gave reasons for all of them. The fat guy in the cage cut himself for attention, the chick with the jaw thing was a drug user, the guy on fire played sick to get out of work all the time, etc
The thing I didn't get was his biggest thing was how people didn't appreciate life and took advantage of people and he used innocent people to make his points to his victims. Seems hypocritical. I could be missing something though.

ohhh ok the playing sick thing, now i remember
as for the innocents thing. i think the point was that when people try and take advantage, usually innocents fall prey (eg commit suicide, ur family has to live with it or driving drunk, normally the drunk lives wihle innocents die)
but i still dont remmeber why he used ZEPP (the nurse.) at least for the ones he DIRECTLY attacked (as in, gave objectives to) he seemed that he wanted them to all be idiots. So i just didnt catch what his fault was.

The plot doesn't make much sense, at the end. you're right. But why pick on a drug user?? and if I had to cut open a guy to survive, you better believe when I got home I'd whip up the BIGGEST spoon of Herion, the world has seen. Since Kurt Cobain , Sid Vicious and John Lennon were alive. :D

It would be really cool to see Jigsaw catch up to the doctor, drag him back into the room by his nub, and tell Adam that this is his only chance to get out of the room, and have Adam do something to the doctor. Unlikely though, considering Adam saw Jigsaw's face.

All in all most of us were just dissapointed in this movie i presume, with its plot holes and bad acting (i mean really you'd think that the hospital would relieze that the dude was actually alive and not dead from whatever the desies he was dieing of)
but yet this movie could be appriceated for its attempt in taking horror in a different direction and staying away from that scream era of movies (curse you 1990's). Will there be a sequel, probably not. Is that a good thing, probably. Givin the sercumstanses of the dissapointment from the hype and the good quallities, and the bad ones. I'm giving this a 3 out of 5.

Alright I saw this movie, but I didn't take the time to read through this whole thread. Please firgive me if my comments have already been mentioned...
I thought this movie started pretty cool and ended pretty cool, but there were way too many parts where I found myself asking 'Well, why wouldn't he just do this? The main one I can think of right now is when the blond Doctor guy couldn't quite reach his phone, but insteading of using his shirt to bring it in (as he had already instructed the other guy to do earlier), he uses his shirt as a turniquette and cuts his leg off. Brilliant.
And what was the point in showing us that he cuts jigsaw pieces out of his victims if they were never going to go back to that plot point for the rest of the movie?
All in all, I had really high hopes for this and wound up a bit disappointed. I'd give it a C-. (You know they're hurting for star power when the guy from Robin Hood:Men in Tights is the lead actor. Ouch.)

am i the only one here who thinks "Saw" was the worst movie ever? and that it's totally embrassing that it's even considered a horror movie? no gore, no scares, no story, no plot / motive, no direction, horrible use of camera and lame editing tricks, AND some of worst acting in a horror movie ever.

we were all talking about in terms of being modern, in this world of "i know.......summer" and "valintine" it was good but not good, as i said it can go either way, 3/5

modern or not "Saw" is terrible. who cares what context you put it in? it's just a terrible movie plain and simple. if it came out in 1987 it'd be just as bad. bad direction, editing, effects, writing, and acting are bad in any context you present them.

***Spoilers******
Well I think I liked it better then the rest of you.
Gore one point
It got you thinking 2 points.
Twists 3 point
And the fact that I didn't have it figure out at the end. Is golden. 4points
So 4 out of 5 for me.
Imo I believe the main issue was he was dying, and the fact that these people took theirs lives for granted was his mo. The Drugie killing herself. The user playing sick. So on even the doctor who had a beautiful wife, a great life, but wasn't happy and went out to cheat on his wife. Way he saw it is he was dying anyways he didn't have a choice anymore to change his life. In his mind he believed he was waking them up. And giving them ways to free themselves and to appreciate what they had.. Life.. there fore to fight for it so to speak. And if they couldn't then they were a wasted effort and not worthy of this gift. At least this is what I got from it anyways. Killer ending. Loved the fact that he was in the room the whole time!
