I have an idea for a horror movie, the problem is it's a sequel and the franchise is now a StV (Straight-to-Video) operation. Where can I find information on writing a script treatment and/or script specifically for horror movies. Thanks for any help you can offer.

What company made the franchise ? Start there. Go to their website and contact the people involved about making the next film. Can't hurt.

There was not just one company, but a few...but the main part of my question was not answered; I was asking where to find information on writing a script or screenplay.

my suggestion is to go to your nearest bookretailer (B&N, Borders, etc) go to the Film/Television section and see if they have the following book:
The Screenwriter's Bible...
this is the book I used in my screenwriting class and it is very informative, with info including: developing characters, plot devices, how to deal with writer's block, and doing re-writes.
I think it's around $30

My bad. I use Sophocles (http://www.download.com/Sophocles-Screenwriting-Software/3000-2079_4-10212887.html?tag=lst-0-1) myself when writing screenplays. Give it a try. If you like it, PM me and I'll e-mail you the crack for it to unlock it's full functions.

My preference for the script writing software is Final Draft (http://www.finaldraft.com/products/fd-features.php4), but I've only used the demo of it and I like it...but because it's a demo I cannot use all the cool features.

I will get that book for sure when I have the money for it, until then I need to find a detailed online script writing tutorial in the vein of that book!
I want to get my hands on the new FD7, even if I have to resort to other means of procurement; as the new features in FD7 just blow me away.

this isn't a tutorial, but it has lots of scripts. Reading lots and lots of scripts will help you see how they are written.

I'll check it out. I was told to check this site out, from another place I posted my question:
Screenwriter's Utopia (http://www.screenwritersutopia.com/)
I've signed up to post there, does anyone else know about this site?

Nope, but that doesn't mean much. Composition and editing have been my main contributions to indie horror films so far. I'm reformatting a few of my stories into actual working scripts at the moment though. Check your PM by the way, ml.

I recomend taking some telcom classes. you will learn everything you need. such as editing, lighting, camera skills, sound, and script work. all the telcom skill go into movie work. you will be pointed in the write (haha play on words) direction. i took years of telcom just to make my zombie movie (which i lost all material in a horrible experience!). look into www.telcomcayuga.org that's a good cheap school that has everything you need. i know i didn't really answer your question, but for real telcom is the way to go! learn all skills and make the whole damn thing yourself and cut out the number of mouths to feed once you do get paid by industry for your work!

Best thing to get started is to read as many scripts online (or off) as you can; many writers have vastly different styles & there is no "right" way to write a screenplay (although there ARE many wong ways). Personally, Word works just fine for me; I'm just used to it & it isn't like the formatting is difficult. I'm sure the specific scriptwriting programs can be handy, but they're hardly essential...just start writing :)
