I find that Games are more likely to scare me while alone at night.
Much more submersive, especially nowdays.
Movies just don't cut it, I mean I grew up in the 80's, I can enjoy a good horror film, but they just don't induce the kind of fear they used to.

The Exorcist...I agree about the games thing...Silent Hill IV, Manhunt have some very freaky parts...

i too would have to agree about the games being more intense than movies nowadays.......i can sit and watch a movie all by myself with no lights on and all and that is not a problem at all but their are some games that are really freaky .......

Not afraid, per-se, but THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is a film that needs watching alone in a dark room for best effect (with no damn interruptions) - and that effect is as terrifying an experience as is possible from any horror movie to date.

Bits of HALLOWEEN, THE SHINING and 'SALEM'S LOT leave me chilled and slightly edgy particularly when watched alone... sound effects and music plays a big part in this.

I wouldn’t say scared because that’s a different feeling but Ringu gave me the creeps when I first saw it alone at night …I don’t think you could watch it any other way though, in a room of talking friends it would have been very diluted!
A subtitled movie does require a certain degree more of concentration, which can help to intensify the feel of the movie!

Movies don't usually effect me like that anymore, except a couple scenes in the Devil's Backbone were kind of intense. That's the only time I get to watch horror movies is late and by myself

I third this! Blair witch was the only movie that has freaked me out. There are other scary movies that have a good 'jump' scare factor, and others with the gore factor, but the Blair Witch really creeped me out.

I think it was because you never see what the f**k is after them. That is always much scarier to me - not knowing!
