Is this in any way a horror movie? Ive been reading reviews, watched the trailer.....And I cant figure out for the life of me why this is rated as the 3rd best horror movie of all time, according to IMDB.

I don't call it horror but I did hear they show it as an anti-drug to people. Don't know if it's true, prob not.

No. It is in no way a horror movie of any sort. I can definately see how it could be used as an anti drug movie, but it's not horror at all. A lot of horrible things happen to the characters in it, but nothing that could even remotely be considered actual 'horror'.
Hard hitting, disturbing movie though... Worth checking out if you haven't seen it and you are of age.

Not horror for sure but is scary as hell to actual users of drugs If they don't show this flick in drug rehab I think they should its super powerful for sure with really neat camera work and excellent acting its a shame the old lady didn't win an oscar for her role! Also check out PI its by the same guy and its a really neat flick if you want to get the gist of some of the camera work Dark hero check this flick out its it Black and white too!

Fucking great movie. it's a 10 out of 10. It acts like a drama.. but it's too good to be one. I always wanted to review it but I only do horror. The reason it can hardly be classified horror is it's too realistic to be.

Great movie, haven't watched it in awhile, it's hard movie to watch very often cause it's so intense, especially the last 15 mins or so. PI is also an excellent movie, I prefer PI over Requiem although both are good for very different reasons..
I wonder what Darren Aronofsky is up to, anybody know?

Not a horror, but some horrible things do happen! This movie is excellent, Androskys other movie Pi: Faith in chaos is also fantastic stuff …
... This is what he is up to as far as I know (http://shadowfaxmedia.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6326#6326)

The three ps: painful, preachy, pointless. So much style, craft and malice go to crafting a movie with the message that life is hard for junkies and everybody is kind of a junkie. How profound. Requiem for a Dream has the subtlety of a chainsaw wielding baboon with a boombox blaring Speed Metal on its back and the maturity of a Florida sherriff.
