Just got an update. 70% chance the Volcano is going to blow. I was around for the first time it blew. The sky was really dark and it was like snow falling but it was ash. by the time it was over we had about an inch of the shit on the ground.

You live in washington? bitch.....

Just kidding, amk. i love washington, though. i lived there for a year and a half as a kid (spokane area, we were stationed at fairchild AFB) shortly after the last one (80 to 82 i think, dont recal, i was 4 when we got there)

I remember the woods out behind our houses had a layer of ash. you could see it through the grass in the yard

Sorry cant find the link but do a google search on the supervolcano under Yellowstone, we a re long overdue for an eruption

I keep hearing that it is supposed to steam a little, but it isn't going to be nearly as bad as the 1980 eruption. I call bullshit. I keep looking out my window to see if that shit has exploded yet, but no dice. I live a couple hours away from it, but that is close enough to get flooded and fucked with the ash situation. The Cowlitz River runs about a mile away from my place, and if the logs come crashing down like the last time, the dyke is going to break.

DaBroMain

yeah i also call bullshit. all those ppl that try to calm you down by saying, "it isnt going to be as bad as......" really suck all that they accomplish is making ppl unprepared. If all else they should say OMG GET THE FUCK OUT THIS THING IS GONNA KILL YOU ALL. better have a bunch of ppl scared and getting the fuck outta dodge than staying around and getting shit on....

Hahaha. Thank you for the invite. I don't think I am not in any danger though. I did say I would sacrifice myself to the Volcano gods if it would keep the bitch from blowing. I am all about it. Lava makes me hot.

How many people are in danger if it blows hardcore? Wouldn't that be crazy if we had another tragedy on our hands that no one remembers because of 9/11?

Well people did not evacuate in 1980 like they where told and we had 50 some deaths. they have asked people to leave for this on too. So I guess it depends on who listens.

No I don't but there are several towns at the base of the mountain. Plus depending on how hard she blows other near by states got a lot of ash from the 1980 blast. so it's a waiting game at this point.

The 1980 explosion was huge. It only killed 57 people, but it caused mass devistation. With the blow 1,370 feet of the mountain came tumbling down. After Friday's small eruption, the volcano sealed back up again causing it to build up massive pressure. There haven't been many earthquakes today, but the pressure is building like crazy. They expect it to be big, but not as big as the 1980 eruption. I figured out that I am about an hour and a half away. The blow, if large enough, will cause flooding in the city I live in, and the ash will cause a mess. We are currently on a level 3 warning, which is the highest it can go. They believe the magma is making it's way up, and there was a pretty severe volcanic tremor this morning. After the 1980 explosion some places were covered in as much as 600 feet of ash. I am not looking forward to the ash at all. The ash also moved as far east as Oklahoma. Trippy shit.

was listening to reports about the Volcano on the radio at work, and they were saying that local residents wernt taking the situation seriously enough.

I havnt been following the news much so dont know too many details on the current situation.

It seems to me they are taking it pretty serious. Wal Mart was packed with people trying to buy supplies yesterday. I dunno though.

i was watching the news the other day and they were talking to some sort of volcano sizemologist.. scientist or something

she siad if the blast back in 1980 was a elephant, this one is a chihuahua. not sure what that means... but she could be right then again she could be very wrong. it IS mother nature, some science and some tricksterrrrrrr

Yeah. A lot has changed since the other day. It has built up a massive amount just today.

I thought I was a lot further than I actually am. I am only 40 minutes away at most. I am so taking pictures if it blows.

seams like people are getting prepared, maybe the news team or whatever think that 'serious' is something like upping sticks and deserting the place completely, and getting as far away as possible.

who knows. maybe itll end up being like Y2K. think of all the gas masks collecting dust in the garage.. or ending up at Good will

IF the city doesnt issue fair warning to the people, it can be held liable if this does end up being a catastrophe, whether 1 person or 100. which is why.. i wouldnt be too worried about it... BUT who knowsssssss

Rebel Yell

They have given fair warning. They have told people to evacuate a number of times, so if they get burried in the remains, it is their own damn fault.

10-03-2004, 07:09 PM
o0o0o0.. well in that case.. RUN BITCHES!!!

but im assuming those r people who are at the base of it? i dunno any of the demographics of the area so...

GDIS

Rebel Yell
10-03-2004, 07:13 PM
Yes. Anyone near the base, people near the Toutle River, and any areas that may be subject to ash problems. Mother nature isn't very nice. The areas around the mountain were just starting to get back to normal after 24 years. Trees are growing, and the river is taking better form. This is going to set things back quite a bit.

Fluff the Ho
10-03-2004, 07:18 PM
dunno bout that one. mother nature likes to balance itself out (forest fires make for new growth, get rid of old trees... bears eat a lot of fish, which is why there are a lot more fish than bears.. etc etc) its people that set shit back (greedy mother fuckers)
