Exterminator Finds Mummified Body Under Apartment Floor
MOBARA, Chiba -- A mummified body was found in an apartment here by an exterminator looking for termites, police said.
Investigators said a 32-year-old construction company worker discovered the body under the floor of the apartment at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and alerted police.
The body, which was in a mummified state, appeared to be that of a man, and police said it was likely several years had passed since his death.
The corpse was reportedly found in a 30-centimeter gap between the floor and the concrete foundation of the home. Police plan to conduct an autopsy on the body.
The three-story apartment block in which the body was found was built in 1989, and currently houses nine households.
