The remake's rolling!

Culver City, CA – March 3, 2008 - Production has begun in Los Angeles on the Screen Gems horror/thriller “The Stepfather,” inspired by the eponymous classic from 1987. Starring Dylan Walsh, Penn Bagdely and Sela Ward, the movie is directed by Nelson McCormick (“Prom Night”) from a script by J.S. Cardone (“Prom Night,”) and is produced by Mark Morgan and Greg Mooradian (both producing “Twilight”).

Walsh stars as David Harris, very much a “family values” man who mysteriously comes into the lives of single mothers with children and becomes the dream man they always wanted.

When he woos Susan Harding (Sela Ward) and eventually moves in with her family, her teenage son Michael (Bagdley) begins to suspect that David is not quite the dream man he pretends to be.  Along with his girlfriend Kelly (Amber Heard) and Susan’s friends (Paige Turco and Sherry Stringfield) they slowly start to piece together the mystery of the man who is set to become their stepfather, but they may be too late in getting to the truth.

“The Stepfather” will shoot on local Los Angeles locations and at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City. Meredith Zamsky serves as executive producer.

Behind the camera is director of photography Patrick Cady (“Cold Case”), production designer Steve Jordan (“Hide and Seek”), editor Eric Beason (“The Rookie”) and costume designer Lyn Paolo (“Prom Night”).

“The Stepfather” will be distributed in the United States and Canada by Screen Gems and internationally by Sony Pictures International.
