Some Underrated Films

Just thought I'd mention some good films that often get overlooked:

The Stendhal Syndrome (1996)
Acacia (2003)
Motel Hell (1980)
Arachnophobia (1990)
Of Unknown Origin (1983)
Puppet Master (1989)
Who Can Kill A Child? (1976)
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)
Lair Of The White Worm (1988)
Mute Witness (1994)
Stir Of Echoes (1999)
Final Destination (2000)
Sisters (1973)
The Cell (2000)
Ghostwatch (1992) (U.K. TV movie)
Children Of The Stones (1977) (U.K. mini-series)
The Kingdom (1994) (Danish mini-series)

I hate the Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake. Whereas the last shot of the original is a masterpiece of ambiguity, the last shot of the remake spells everything out explicitly and nothing is left in question.

I also think Puppet Master is a stupid little film.

My favorites from that list are Motel Hell, Arachnaphobia, Lair of the White Worm and Stir of Echoes- though I think Stir is pretty well regarded, overall.

You're right, Puppet Master really is a stupid little film, but I really liked those creepy puppets.

I thought Stir Of Echoes kind of got ignored because it was released too close on the heels of The Sixth Sense.

The original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers would definitely be in my Top Ten Best Movies Ever list.

Arachnophobia is great- its one of he only films I can watch with my son and a clear conscience.
Stir of Echo's I only bought by accident as I was after something to watch at work in the wee small hours and there was an ex-rental in our local shop for £2. I as really pleased with it and found it quite unerving and well acted. Genuinely frightened me the first time I watched it.
Also, the first Final destinationwas a fresh idea and good story, but I think it has been tainted by too many sequals.

Haha- The Gate is infamous here.

Are Misery & Duel underrated? Duel is pretty highly regarded as far as I remember.

I'd like to add:
Eaten Alive
The Bloodsplattered Bride
The Funhouse
Kidnapped
The Seventh Victim (in the context of Lewton's oeuvre, it's underrated)
Nightmare Alley (virtually forgotten)
Doctor X
New York Ripper
Freddy vs. Jason
Savage Weekend

Some of them are sort of mainstream but the majority of them don't earn the praise they deserve and do not have the place in canon they should.
